The Lobos crushed Wyoming 97-68 at home on Saturday; New Mexico is now 17-8 overall and 6-6 in Mountain West Conference action.
The Lobos already had a comfortable lead at halftime against the Cowboys, led by Corey Manigault, who scored 28 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The Lobos’ leading scorer this season is JaQuan Lyle, who’s averaging 16.5 points per game, but will have to step up if New Mexico wants to defeat the Aztecs.
The Lobos are one of the few teams in the nation that shoot well enough to stay close in scoring with the Aztecs. However, New Mexico lost five of their last seven games, and are horrible defending as their game against the Aztecs earlier this season showed when SD State hung 85 points on them.
