2018 Bowl Games Predictions

Get Ready To Place Your Bets On These Three Bowl Games

The bowl season is in full swing serving up the last college football games before they go away for another year. There are some great bowl games lined up on the schedule, but we've hand-picked three from the betting board just for you.

Rose Bowl

  • What: Washington State Huskies vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
  • When: January 01, 2019, 5:00 PM ET
  • Where: Rose Bowl

Rose Bowl Point Spread: Ohio State -7

Analysis: The Buckeyes didn’t get an invite to the College Football Playoff, but the Rose Bowl is a pretty good consolation prize. At least, it gives them the opportunity to say goodbye Urban Meyer as a winner if they defeat Washington State.

It’ll be a tough challenge for the Buckeyes. A second consecutive Big Ten championship and a blowout win over Michigan notwithstanding, Ohio State cannot afford to be too confident against the Huskies.

Washington State has a fair share of talent on the roster. Even if they ended the season with three losses, they came by a combined total of only 10 points. That’s more than deserving of respect.

The Buckeyes’ defense has to be on its toes if they want to keep quarterback Jake Browning and running back Miles Gaskin from doing damage.

On the flipside, the Ohio State offense needs to do what it’s done all season long, crush their opponents under a punishing pace.

This game has the makings of it lighting up the scoreboard. Both teams have the potential scoring big time, and most likely will. I see the Ohio State defense making a few key plays that will tilt the balance to the Buckeyes favor.

Washington vs. Ohio State Betting Trends

  • Washington is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games
  • Washington is 5-1 SU in its last six games
  • Ohio State is 3-6 ATS in its last nine games
  • Ohio State is 5-0 SU in its last five games

Pick: Ohio State -7

Fiesta Bowl

  • What: LSU Tigers vs. UCF Knights
  • When: January 01, 2019, 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: University of Phoenix Stadium

Fiesta Bowl Point Spread: LSU -7.5

Analysis: The Knights are looking to crown a second-straight undefeated season with a win in the Fiesta Bowl. UCF heads into the game riding a 25-game win streak, an FBS best.

The news for point spread bettors, however, is that the Knights are 5-1 ATS in their previous six games as dogs. But, can they beat the spread without star quarterback McKenzie Milton?

The Tigers have a shot at ending the nation’s longest winning streak. To do so, they’ll need to push Knight’s Milton’s fill-in Darriel Mack Jr., and also try to score early to keep UCF in check.

LSU may have the offensive advantage in quarterback Joe Burrow. He’s just what the Tigers needed to step back into the national scene.

LSU vs. UCF Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Louisiana State's last nine games
  • LSU was 6-6 ATS this season but were 2-5 ATS as a favorite.
  • Central Florida is 5-1 ATS in its last six games
  • Central Florida is 5-0 SU in its last five games

Pick: UCF +7

Sugar Bowl

  • What: Texas Longhorns vs. Georgia Bulldogs
  • When: January 01, 2019, 8:45 PM ET
  • Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Sugar Bowl Point Spread: Georgia -13

Analysis: The Bulldogs proved they’re one of the best teams in college football when they nearly knocked off Alabama from their pedestal. Georgia has some people saying they should have been in the Playoff.

One thing is sure, the Bulldogs’ defense is one that no team wants to play. If you don’t agree, ask Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to comment (Tagovailoa completed only 10 of 25 pass attempts in the SEC Championship Game and threw two interceptions).

If the Crimson Tide was bogged down by the Bulldogs’ defense, don’t get your hopes up with what the Longhorns offense can do in this game. More than likely, Georgia will grind out the Longhorns. Even if the spread is considerably high, the Bulldogs are the superior team.

Against the spread bettors should also take into consideration that the Bulldogs are 19-9 ATS in the Kirby Smart era. So if you’re banking on the Bulldogs on beating the spread, there aren’t many safer bets than this.

Texas vs. Georgia Betting Trends

  • Texas is 2-4-1 ATS in its last seven games
  • Texas is 9-3 SU in its last 12 games
  • Georgia is 5-1 ATS in its last six games
  • Georgia is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games

Pick: Georgia -13
