No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson take the field on Jan. 7 to compete for the bragging rights and title of this season’s champion. The latest college football lines have the Crimson Tide as the 5-point favorites to win, but the Tigers will fight tooth and claw to bring the title back home to South Carolina.

Why Bet on Clemson?

Last year, Clemson lost to Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinals. This year, the Tigers get a shot at getting some payback.

Soon after the College Football Playoff semis ended, Clemson opened as dogs with up to a 6.5-point spread at most sportsbooks.

But, the Tigers have been more efficient on offense since freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence jumped on the ship in September of this year. The Tigers have averaged 47.8 points per game with Lawrence as QB.

The Tigers have also improved an already great defense, which makes this a balanced team that will give Alabama a run for its money.

Proof of this team’s performance can be found in their games against Pitt for the ACC Championship title which the Tigers won 42-10, and in the College Football Playoff semifinal against Notre Dame which they also won 30-3.

Clemson’s dominance on the defensive end is what could lead to a win over Alabama. The three-headed monster of Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, and Dexter Lawrence is the Tigers greatest weapon to hold back the Crimson Tide.

But, it’ll be up to Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne who will have the burden of driving the offense to victory.

Why Bet on Alabama?

The Tide is looking for their second straight national title. And to many, they’re in line to take it back home.

Alabama has been the dominant force in college football for the past years. This final is their fourth straight year in which they’re competing for a national championship and arguably this year’s team is their best.

Though Alabama is well known for their defensive prowess, the offense has been killing it this season with the addition of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa completed 69.5 percent of his passes this year for 3,671 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions, including throwing for 318 yards with four TDs vs. Oklahoma in the semifinal.

Alabama’s offense has cut down opposing defenses, making wins look easy and establishing that they’re the team to beat this year.

Even against Clemson’s formidable defense, the Tide has proved before they can find weaknesses to exploit. For example, against Mississippi State, a top-tier defense similar to that of the Tigers, they still managed 305 yards at 4.2 yards per play with Tagovailoa passing for 164 yards on 14-of-21 completions.
