Why Bet on Syracuse?

The Orange has turned into a hard nut to crack under Dino Babers and his aggressive offensive philosophy. Point in case, quarterback Eric Dungey has racked up 2,883 yards of total offense and 26 touchdowns this season which means they could stand toe-to-toe against Notre Dame.

Though Syracuse is a double-digit dog in this game, it’s something they’ve grown accustomed to considering they’ve covered in five straight games despite being big underdogs.

Dungey has a tough job ahead of him and though Notre Dame’s defense may be overrated, it’ll push the Orange’s offense to the limit.

Why Bet on Notre Dame?

It’s the Fighting Irish’s last big test and they head into this game on a 10-0 run after beating Florida State last week.

Notre Dame opened as a 9.5-point chalk, but the line has bounced around all week and is now at 10.5 at most books.

ND will have Ian Book returning at the quarterback position which should give the Irish an even greater boost though last week against Florida State they managed incredibly well without him and capitalized on a strong running game that led to 365 rushing yards.

This opens up another option for Notre Dame as Syracuse’s run defense has been shaky. It also may point to value on betting against the spread on ND.

Syracuse vs. Notre Dame Betting Trends

  • Syracuse is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games

Prediction: This game won’t be a blowout, in fact, Notre Dame will have to work hard to eke out a win. But, in the end, the Irish will win.

Pick: Syracuse +10

Duke at No. 2 Clemson

Why Bet on Duke?

Duke has something to be proud of this year having accomplished a 7-3 run, so far. Their wins against Army and Northwestern at the beginning of the season had fans thinking of the glory to come. In fact, had it not been for back-to-back losses against Pitt and UVa, they would be in the ACC championship race.

That the Blue Devils also find themselves in a bowl game after 17 consecutive seasons of draught is a testament to how they’ve improved this year.

But, reality bites and it has Clemson’s face on it. So, although they’ll give it the good fight, there’s a high chance they’re going to get hammered in this game.

Why Bet on Clemson?

Let’s get clear on something folks, Clemson is not about to lose its first game of the year against Duke. The double-digit spread should remove any doubts on this if you’re wondering.

The Tigers, in fact, have a shot at making ACC history with a win as they’ll set a new ACC record of 51 wins in a four-year span. Not only that, this year’s run could break the ACC record set by last year’s Clemson seniors and tie them with the 2017 Alabama senior class for most wins in college football history.

The Tigers’ defense is rock-solid. It’s hard to see Duke gaining an inch without leaving some blood on the field. Over the past three games, Clemson has allowed just 69 total rushing yards and have had 15 sacks for a total of 95 lost yards in that three-game span. Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, Austin Bryant, and Dexter Lawrence are a force to be reckoned with and they’ll stick it to Duke’s QB, Travis Etienne.

Duke vs. Clemson Betting Trends

  • Duke is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Duke is 10-3 SU in its last 13 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Duke's last 6 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Clemson is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games at home

Prediction: Duke won’t be able to hold back Clemson’s defense. The Tigers will also open up the spigots on offense and will light up the scoreboard in upstate South Carolina.

Pick: Clemson -28
