Betting on the Tigers?

The Tigers opened as the favorites despite Ohio State having the No. 1 spot in the country in the week heading into the conference championships.

Clemson stumbled at UNC in Week 5, when they barely defeated the Tar Heels 21-20, but shook it off by crushing opponents down the stretch. The Tigers outscored opponents 415-78 in the following eight games after playing North Carolina.

However, the Tigers’ schedule in the regular season wasn’t all too tough, and they only played two ranked opponents – No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 23 Virginia.

This will be an exciting matchup between Clemson’s offense and Ohio State’s defense. Trevor Lawrence was only sacked twelve times this season, and the Buckeyes will be hard-pressed to slow him down.

Betting on the Buckeyes?

The Buckeyes didn’t face any opposition of merit until the Big Ten championship game against Wisconsin. Ohio State was down by two touchdowns at halftime but put the pedal to the metal in the second half to outscore the Badgers 27-0.

In struggling against the Badgers, the Buckeyes took a hit in the rankings and in the odds to win the national title. However, there’s no denying Ohio State’s solid performance throughout the season.

Despite a tough schedule, the Buckeyes were able to gain the top spot in the nation in scoring, putting up 48.7 points per game. Ohio State also tied for second place for fewest points allowed per game with 12.5.
