Top Three Week 8 College Football ATS Picks

Here are our top three college football ATS picks for Week 8.

Florida at South Carolina

  • When: October 19, 2019, 12:00 PM ET
  • Where: Williams-Brice Stadium
  • College Football Lines: Florida -5
  • Over/Under: 46
  • Moneyline: Florida -215 vs. South Carolina +185

Analysis: It’s a tough loss for whichever team loses this game. It would be a letdown for South Carolina that just defeated Georgia. And it wouldn’t help Florida get back on the saddle after their loss to LSU.

The public money is backing South Carolina, which is surprising. The Gamecocks are high on the hog after back-to-back wins over Kentucky and Georgia, and it’s hard to tell if they can keep up the pace.

Florida is a tough cookie, though, and their loss was to an even tougher LSU. I don’t think the Gators are backing down for this fight, and they will get the job done to win and cover.

Betting Trends

  • South Carolina is 4-1 ATS in its last five games.
  • Florida is 10-1 SU in their last 11 games.
  • Florida is 4-1 SU in their last five games against an opponent in the Southeast Conference.
  • South Carolina is 5-1 ATS in their last six games against an opponent in the Southeast Conference.

Pick: Florida -5

North Carolina at Virginia Tech

  • When: October 19, 2019, 3:30 PM ET
  • Where: Lane Stadium
  • College Football Lines: UNC -3.5
  • Over/Under: 47.5
  • Moneyline: UNC -165 vs. Virginia Tech +145

Analysis: Mack Brown has worked his magic at UNC and it’s led to a 2-0 start along with almost knocking off the then No. 1 Clemson a few weeks back.

If the Tar Heels win, they’re still in contention for the ACC Coastal, too. Is a shot at playing in the ACC championship game motivation to succeed? I’ll bet there’s no lack of motivation at UNC.

These teams are pretty evenly matched, and I don’t see any home-field advantage for the Hokies. This pick is a toss-up, but UNC quarterback Sam Howell will come through for the Tar Heels.

Betting Trends

  • North Carolina is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games.
  • North Carolina is 1-5 ATS in their last six games against Virginia Tech.
  • Virginia Tech is 1-5 ATS in its last six games.
  • Virginia Tech is 1-4 ATS in their last five games this season.

Pick: UNC -3.5

Temple at SMU

  • When: October 19, 2019, 3:30 PM ET
  • Where: Gerald J. Ford Stadium
  • College Football Lines: SMU -8.5
  • Over/Under: 59.5
  • Moneyline: Temple +275 vs. SMU -330

Analysis: Temple is on a roll after throwing a wrench in Memphis’ plans for a perfect season. But, SMU isn’t about to let their dream season get away as easily.

The Mustangs are 6-0, and that hasn’t happened for a long time. SMU has the nation’s 11th best offensive attack and is putting up 44.8 points per game, which is sixth in the country.

It’s not that the Owls aren’t good for pulling off an upset, it’s that SMU won’t give away their sole grasp of an unbeaten conference record.

Betting Trends

  • Temple are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games.
  • Temple is 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games on the road.
  • Southern Methodist is 5-1 ATS in their last six games.
  • Southern Methodist is 1-4 ATS in their last five games against an opponent in the American Athletic Conference.

Pick: SMU -8.5
