NCAA Football Usual Candidates

Let's start with the usual candidates we have every year in College Football. But first. The College Football Playoffs had a long-anticipated change in the NCAAF and entering the eighth year of this format, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't consider the bracket a significant upgrade over what came before it.

At the same time, it gets harder to deny that the four-team format was already beginning to feel a bit predictable. The reason is that every year the playoffs were dominated by the same four college programs.

Top-Tier

Alabama +250

The Crimson Roll Tide comes off yet another NCAA Football title, as they destroyed Ohio State. It was a stellar performance that had Heisman winner Devonta Smith and QB Mac Jones in perfect synchrony. Now both play in the NFL, which means it's new prospects taking the helm.

However, Bama has the best coach in college history, with Nick Saban going as strong as ever. Whether it is Braxton Barker or Bryce Young at QB, Alabama will be on a roll -no pun intended- once the season kicks off.

Clemson +450

Clemson has been the home of many top-tier NFL talents like Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, and Travis Ettiene, among many others. Now, top QB prospect DJ Uiagelelei is in charge, and with an elite head coach like Dabo Sweeney on the sidelines, it's not a surprise to see the Clemson Tigers well positioned in the odds.

Ohio State +600

Fresh off a runner-up season, Ohio State is back to challenge for the College Football throne. Nevertheless, head coach Ryan Day will have to hope new QB CJ Stroud has the same fire as the now Chicago Bears signal-caller, Justin Fields.

This is not the best roster the Buckeyes have had, but they still possess a top-rated in the wideout spot in Garrett Wilson Jr, who should have a massive season before going pro in 2022.

Oklahoma +800

The Sooners are a humongous seeding for NFL talent, and they might just happen to have one of the best-rated QBs this season. This year, Spencer Rattler should put up monstrous numbers after he got 3031 yards, with 28 TDs and just seven picks.

Head coach Lincoln Riley has a super team, but the Sooners have failed to win recently, so the odds are still skeptical of them.

Dark Horses

Georgia +600

The Bulldogs are the dark horse of the year, and that's because they are a deep, deep class on the defensive side. They should be capable of giving any offense a hard time.

The main issue would be what to do on the offensive side. The QB, JT Daniels, is nothing special. It is otherwise. A USC transfer to Georgia, Daniels has a shy arm, he takes too much care, he doesn't risk it. Therefore, he doesn't collect many rewards.

Texas A&M +4000

Kellen Mond departed to the NFL, so Haines King is the new guy under center. Having said that, the Aggies should have a ground-based game. Their RB Isaiah Spiller was a 1000+ yard running back, and he will have to shine even brighter this year to make the Aggies a team to watch.

Senior Safety Leon O'Neal had two picks, three deflections, and 48 total tackles last year. He is the leader and captain of this team, and if declared to the draft, he could be taken in early rounds shall he put another big season.
