Clemson Tigers vs vs Auburn Tigers

  • When: September 09, 2017, 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: Memorial Stadium-Clemson
  • Spread: Clemson -5.5
  • Over/Under: 54
  • Moneyline: Clemson -215 vs Auburn +185

The defending national champions got their season off to a great start defeating Kent State 56-3.

Kelly Bryant, who replaced Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson, looked good against Kent State, finishing with 236 passing yards, 77 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Even though the Auburn Tigers weren’t expected to struggle against the Golden Flashes, it was still an impressive debut for Bryant. The Tigers will be hoping for a similar performance against Auburn.

Clemson’s defensive line was impressive; I don’t expect Auburn to be successful of gaining much yards via the ground attack given how solid Clemson’s defense is.

Auburn also had an impressive debut, defeating Georgia Southern 41-7.

Even while you may think the win doesn’t have much merit, Georgia Southerns’ offense is very dangerous. If not for the Tiger’s defense, that effectively shut down every Georgia Southern attempt, the game would’ve been much different.

Auburn’s defense may put Clemson’s offense in hot water, and I expect the ACC Tigers to struggle moving the ball for a while at least. However, once Bryant gets settled in his game, it’ll be Clemson’s ballgame.

Like Clemson’s Bryant, Jarrett Stidham made his debut for the Tigers on Saturday, and finished the game 14/24 for 185 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He will have to do a better job taking care of the ball if he wants to lead his team to a road victory against Clemson.

Auburn’s offensive success came mostly in the run game, that put up 351 yards and three touchdowns. The ground attack might not be as successful in Death Valley, but unlike last year, Auburn should be able to balance things out a bit.

Clemson vs Auburn Betting Trends

  • Auburn is 10-4-1 ATS in its last 15 games
  • Auburn is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Auburn is 8-3 SU in its last 11 games
  • Clemson is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Clemson is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Clemson's last 7 games

Pick and Prediction

Clemson is favored to win the game at -5.5. Auburn will be ready for the upset, but the Clemson defense will come up big in the second half. Take Clemson on the spread.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Oklahoma Sooners

  • When: September 09, 2017, 7:30 PM ET
  • Where: Ohio Stadium
  • Spread: Ohio State -7.5
  • Over/Under: 64.5
  • Moneyline: Ohio State -320 vs Oklahoma +270

The Buckeyes kicked off the season with a road win over Indiana on Thursday night. They will be going into this game with two extra days of rest, which could be a factor on Saturday.

However, before they turned on the back burners, the Hoosiers’ offense, led by Richard Lagow, managed to put up 410 yards with three scores to make the game interesting.

Quarterback J.T. Barrett overcame a slow start and finished the game with 304 passing yards, 61 rushing yards, and 4 touchdowns. He will be a facing a tougher defense this week, but should be able to move the ball against them in the friendly confines of The Horseshoe.

The Buckeyes’ defensive front has to step into line given the amount of talent they have available. Against Indiana, they didn’t do as good as a job as they could have and hence gave up too many yards via the air.

If the run defense is as good as it was against Indiana, and the defensive line hits Baker Mayfield hard right from the get-go, it’ll be Ohio State’s night.

Oklahoma obliterated UTEP last week in a game that was already out of hand in the first half, forcing the team to sit quarterback Baker Mayfield in the second half of the game.

The Sooners are also coming into this game with a lot to prove after being humiliated by the Buckeyes in Norman, Oklahoma last season.

A win by either team could be the difference maker later in the season when the Committee is trying to decide which team belongs in the playoffs, so expect an exciting back and forth game.

Buckeyes vs Sooners Betting Trends

  • Oklahoma is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Oklahoma is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Oklahoma's last 7 games
  • Ohio State is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games
  • Ohio State is 22-3 SU in its last 25 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Ohio State's last 6 games

Pick and Prediction

Ohio State is favored to win by 7.5. The Sooners will be game, but the Buckeyes will pull of the win. Take Oklahoma +7.5

Penn State Nittany Lions vs Pittsburgh Panthers

  • When: September 09, 2017, 3:30 PM ET
  • Where: Beaver Stadium
  • Spread: Penn State -20.5
  • Over/Under: 68
  • Moneyline: Penn State -1200 vs Pittsburgh +825

While this game isn’t as big as the other two, it carries a lot of playoff implications as well and bragging rights in Pennsylvania.

The Panthers are coming off a win against Youngstown State that was closer than expected. They blew a 21 point lead before winning in overtime. They can’t afford any lapses against the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley if they want to win this game.

Pitt, of course, will be stretched to its limits against a top ten Penn State team that is expected to make a run for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

And, given the Panthers are missing some of last year’s players that allowed them to win over Penn State, namely Nathan Peterman, James Conner, Dorian Johnson, Ejuan Price, and Adam Bisnowaty, it’s very unlikely they get out of this one unscathed.

Penn State pitched an impressive 52-0 shutout against Akron in their season opener, and look like one of the teams to beat this year.

The Lions opened the scoreboard on a DeAndre Thompkins' 61-yard punt return midway through the first quarter; then, took a 35-0 lead into halftime and it was practically over from then on.

Penn State steamrolled over the Zips 569-159. Running back Saquon Barkley accounted for 226 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, while fellow Heisman contender Trace McSorley threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another.

A loss to the Panthers early last season ended up costing them a chance to make the playoffs, so look for them to try and get some revenge this year.

Nittany Lions vs Panthers Betting Trends

  • Pittsburgh is 5-11 ATS in its last 16 games
  • Pittsburgh is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of Pittsburgh's last 13 games
  • Penn State is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Penn State is 10-1 SU in its last 11 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Penn State's last 8 games

Pick and Prediction

The Nittany Lions are favored to win at -20.5. Penn State is good, but I don’t see them defeating a talented Panthers team by 21 points so take Pittsburgh at +20.5.
