Why Bet on the Chargers?

The Chargers head to Baltimore looking for payback for their Week 16 defeat at the hands of the Ravens. Amongst all wild card teams, LA owns the best regular season record though they were unable to clinch the division title.

The loss against the Ravens cost Los Angeles the AFC West title, so they’ll come out playing with a big chip on their shoulders.

The game will give quarterback Philip Rivers a chance to prove he’s ready to lead his team to glory. Rivers had one of his greatest regular seasons yet, and at one point he was in the MVP talks.

Though the Chargers now have to play in Baltimore, this may prove to be an advantage for them. LA is 7-1 SU and ATS on the road this season.

Los Angeles seems to be a much more balanced team when they’re on the road, posting good numbers both in the air attack as in the running game.

Why Bet on the Ravens?

The Ravens earned a wild card by the skin of their teeth. They just narrowly avoided a disaster in Week 17 and somehow managed to find their way to the playoffs.

However, they might find themselves at the end of the road on Sunday when they face the Chargers.

Though Los Angeles won the day against the Ravens in Week 16, they’re arguably the weaker team this time around.

Even if rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson has led Baltimore to a 6-1 SU record in his seven starts, when compared with Rivers there’s an apparent mismatch. Jackson has an 84.5 QB rating, which is lower than the likes of Matt Stafford, Nick Mullens, Eli Manning, Ryan Tannehill, and Derek Carr.

Plus, he’s never been in this type of high-stakes situations before which could push him to commit errors that end up costing games.

Chargers vs. Ravens Betting Trends

  • LA Chargers is 4-2 ATS in its last six games
  • LA Chargers is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of LA Chargers' last ten games
  • Baltimore is 4-2 ATS in its last six games
  • Baltimore is 6-1 SU in its last seven games
  • Baltimore is 1-5 ATS in its last six games at home

Game Prediction: This may be a trap game for the Chargers. But, I think Los Angeles will win it in the end. It’s going to be close, however, and Rivers will have to pull out all the stops if he’s to lead the Chargers to victory.

Pick: Chargers +3
