Why Bet on the Bears?

The Bears mauled the Lions back in Week 10 and have continued a successful run this season with a record of 7-3 and first in the NFC North. There’s no room for error, however, and this is a must-win game if they want to win the division.

Last Sunday, the Bears defense once more left a bloodied and battered offense on the field in their win over the Vikings, 25-20. Vikings QB Kirk Cousins couldn’t get his game going under the Bears’ stern defense. Cousins was sacked twice and was picked off twice.

The Bears defense will be a nightmare for the Lions as Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks will tear holes through their offensive lines to sack Matthew Stafford as they did in their previous game when they sacked him on six occasions.

It’s likely the Bears will pound the ground game with running back Jordan Howard leading the attack. The Lions are giving up and 132.7 rushing yards per game heading into Week 11.

Why Bet on the Lions?

The Lions were able to stop a three-game skid on Sunday, beating Carolina Panthers at home 20-19.

Despite the win, the Lions return home without running back Kerryon Johnson who suffered a knee injury and left the game to not return. It’s unlikely he’ll be available for the Thanksgiving day game.

Detroit will have to rely on either LeGarrette Blount or Theo Riddick to set up a ground attack. This leaves Stafford with fewer options in his passing attack.

Stafford passed for 220 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-37 completions against Carolina and seemed to have been well protected and could signal that perhaps he can get through the Bears defense.

Bears vs. Lions Betting Trends

  • Chicago is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Chicago is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Chicago's last 7 games
  • Detroit is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Detroit is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games at home
  • Detroit is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games at home

Prediction: In Week 10, the Bears were easy home winners over the Lions. The Lions didn’t even score until late in the first half and already trailing 26-0. The defense will once more bog down and punish the Lions offense.

Pick: Bears -4
