Eagles at Giants NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction & Game Info

Do you know what’s crazy? That the 1-4 Giants are just 1.5 games out of first place in the NFC East, a division that’s arguably the worst in football right now. So, why would betting on the Eagles vs. Giants make sense? Because it has all the makings of being a trap game for the Eagles that still look to be intoxicated from winning the Super Bowl. Betting on the Eagles?

The Eagles seem to be having a bad Super Bowl hangover if judging by their 2-3 start this season. Last Sunday, they lost 23-21 against the Vikings in an NFC title game rematch in which we saw Carson Wentz turn out a completely different performance than last year. In fact, Wentz could have provided the Vikings with the edge they needed to win the game after having fumbled the ball in the second quarter that led to a 64-yard touchdown return.

There were some positive signs though, such as Zach Ertz having caught 10-of-11 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown. Ertz has now caught 10 passes in 3-of-5 games this season and is on pace for 1,398 yards after entering 2018 with a career high of 853.

On the other hand, the Eagles suffered a big blow after the announcement that Jay Ajayi is out for the season with a torn ACL. Ajayi criticized the play-calling after the game, commentating they should be running the ball more to control the flow of the game. But, that’s a moot point now that he’s out.

The Eagles’ backfield is a hobbled bunch, so they may have to turn to the air game and hope to finally break through the 24-point barrier this year.

Betting on the Giants?

The Giants are nothing to be wowed about; but, at least they’ve scored the most points in their division so far.

New York lost on Sunday to Carolina and are 1-4, but have shown some signs of improvement. Eli Manning threw for 326 yards and two scores but was picked off twice.

Meanwhile, Odell Beckham grabbed eight-of-14 targets for 131 yards and a touchdown while also throwing for a 57-yard touchdown. Yes, you read right, he threw for a touchdown which turned him into the first Giant to both throw and catch a touchdown pass in the same game since Hall of Famer Frank Gifford in 1959.

Beckham seemed to have thrown Manning under the bus for the offense’s issues in an interview last week but didn’t quite own up to the fact he also dropped the ball on fourth-and-three in the first quarter, then botched a punt that led to a fumble recovery and a Carolina touchdown.

Rookie Saquon Barkley had 129 yards from scrimmage (81 receiving, 48 rushing) and two touchdown catches in the game and should improve as the season progresses.
