2018 NFL Betting Odds For The AFC North

You are here

It doesn't take much looking around to see the Pittsburgh Steelers as the big odds favorite to win the AFC North this year. Not only does Pittsburgh head into the season with a crackerjack offense, they also have a top 5 ranked defense. But, are the Steelers really that much of a favorite? Let's take a look to see if there's a better bet in sight.

Early NFC North Betting Lines & Predictions

Who’s The Favorite?

Though the AFC North has traditionally been very competitive, there's one team that's dominated it and it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the rest of the teams have stepped up this year so there's no telling whether the Steel City's team will win it in 2018.

The Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson and he could make some waves from the get-go, the Bengals could make a run for the playoffs if they manage to stay away from injury, and even the lowly Browns could see themselves do well with a brand new quarterback leading the offense.

In any case, the Steelers are always a playoff team so if they manage to stay consistent on defense and Big Ben Roethlisberger does his job (which he will) then Pittsburgh should be good to win the division once more.

What About Ravens?

The Ravens were close to making the playoffs last year, but missed their chance and ended up with a 9-7 record. It's been three years since they've made the postseason and they're hoping to end the draught but it all depends on how they manage their quarterback situation as well as one of the toughest road schedules in the NFL.

If Joe Flacco can stay in one piece and Lamar Jackson gains some steam, then we'll see the Ravens in the playoffs and who knows from then on.

Let's talks about the Bengals

Even if the Bengals' schedule is among the easiest based on opponent wins over the last year, it is still lined up with five playoff teams from last season.

Hopefully, they've improved their offensive line because if not they're going to be running into all sorts of problems. With a solid O line, the Bengals should be able to capitalize on running back Joe Mixon's ground attack and an Andy Dalton, A.J. Green air attack combo.

If the defense holds up as well then I expect to see the Bengals make a deep run this year.

Lastly, what’s up with the Browns?

Let's face it, the Browns have sucked big time in the last few years. But, no team has made as many changes during the offseason so maybe this year things will be different.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor should warm things up for the newly acquired rookie Baker Mayfield. Hopefully, Mayfield meshes well with Jarvis Landry because if they do, we're going to see good things from Cleveland.

Running back Carlos Hyde should improve the Browns' ground game and help rookie Nick Chubb step up for the years to come.
