Why Bet on the Saints?

The Saints are a juggernaut this season. When New Orleans rolls into Dallas, they do so trailing a 10-game win streak and having defeated their opponents by an average of 16.1 point per game.

The Saints have earned their place among the favorites to win the Super Bowl this year. And, much of this has to do with Drew Brees, who is playing at another level.

But, it’s not only Brees who’s playing great football. Offensively, the Saints are on a warpath and there aren’t any signs they’re slowing down any time soon.

Let’s not forget about what the Saints are doing on defense, because part of what makes the offense so good is that the D has held its last three opponents below 20 points and is ranked first in the league in rushing yards allowed per contest.

The Saints have also been generous to bettors. New Orleans is 9-2 ATS in 11 games this season, 14-3 ATS in the last 17 games vs teams with winning records, and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games vs the Cowboys. Is that enough to convince you on which team you should take? Perhaps.

Why Bet on the Cowboys?

The Boys have been on the up and up lately. Dallas has won their last three games and are back in the NFC playoff picture. This should be motivation enough for them to try and knock off the Saints.

The Cowboys defeated the Falcons, Eagles, and Redskins and are 4-1 SU in five home games this season, averaging 26.2 points in those games. But it’s the defense that will have to step up big time in order to win this game.

The Cowboys’ D has been great this year. Since the sixth week, Dallas has held opponents to just 19.5 points per game and are ranked fourth in rushing yards allowed per game, only allowing seven touchdowns, so far.

Dallas must do everything they can to keep Brees off of the field. Fail at this and they’ll be punished by the Saints crushing offense. This means Ezekiel Elliot will have to work extra hard to keep the offense on long drives.

Elliot has been Dallas’ workhorse in the past three weeks. From scrimmage, the running back has gained at least 143 yards and scored four touchdowns. And, now that Amari Cooper is back in the fold, Elliot won’t be as pressured to carry the full weight of Dallas’ offense on his legs.

Falcons vs. Saints Betting Trends

  • New Orleans is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
  • New Orleans is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • New Orleans is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games when playing Dallas
  • Dallas is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Dallas is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games
  • Dallas is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games at home

Predictions: The Saints are crushing it right now. Dallas’ defense might be very good but it’s doubtful they’ll be able to stop Brees from setting the pace of the game. If it’s not Brees then it’s going to be Kamara or Ingram, and either way it’s the Saints that’ll end up winning.

Pick: Saints -7.5
