2018 Vikings vs. Rams Pick & Prediction

The Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams kick off Week 4 with a Thursday Night Football matchup that could be a preview of an NFC Championship game. Though the NFL latest line has the Rams as a 6.5-point favorite, the Vikings’ defense could upend Los Angeles’ top-rated offense.

Why Bet on the Vikings?

The Vikings have something to prove to themselves and fans alike after losing last Sunday to the Buffalo Bills despite being a 17-point home favorite. The loss turned the Bills into the 15th dog of 17 points or more to win a game in the Super Bowl era and the biggest underdog to pull off such a win since the Redskins defeated the Cowboys 24-17 as 17.5-point underdogs back in 95.

Minnesota had all sorts of problems in running the ball, which made Dalvin Cook’s absence stick out like a sore thumb. The Vikings only attempted six rushing tries that didn’t amount to too much. In fact, Latavius Murray rushed on two occasions to gain a measly yard though he did add five catches to his name for 30 receiving yards. Cook did comment he would play in their game against the Rams but remains on standby given his hamstring injury that might keep him off the field.

The Vikings offense has plenty of work to do if they’re to beat the Rams. Though quarterback Kirk Cousins 40-of-55 passes for 296 yards, one touchdown, and an interception, the offensive line allowed him to be blindsided on a couple of occasions in the beginning of the game.

Why Bet on the Rams?

The Rams hit the ground running this season and have won all three of their regular season games. Even if all of their wins have been at home, there’s no denying the offense has been crushing it. Against the Chargers last Sunday, Jared Goff passed for 354 yards and three touchdowns while Todd Gurley rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown. Robert Woods grabbed 10 passes for 104 yards and two scores. All in all, the Rams had 521 yards of offense.

The Rams have thus become the favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl. However, it’s not all good news for the Rams as Pro Bowl cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib both left the game with injuries. Peters might be out for 2-4 weeks while Talib could recover from an ankle injury soon.

  • Passing Yards: 305.67

  • Total Yards: 296.00
