Betting on the Chiefs?

Now that Patrick Mahomes is getting healthy, the Chiefs can get down to business to keep their hold on the AFC West. Mahomes threw for 446 yards and three touchdowns against Tennessee in their last game that nevertheless resulted in a loss.

Mahomes or not, Kansas City cannot afford to let another game slip between their hands as they did against the Titans. The Chiefs’ defense needs to do a better job on par with the offense.

The Chiefs have the “undesirable” position of having too much offensive talent with players such as Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman, and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. But, all this talent is for naught if the defense can’t get their opponent’s offense off of the field.

Betting on the Chargers?

The Raiders converted three Philip Rivers interceptions into 10 points in a 26-24 Chargers loss last Thursday night. Phillip Rivers is a liability.

Rivers was 0-for-8 on the Chargers’ final drive of the game as he completed a season-low 17 passes against a Raiders secondary that allows 283 pass yards per game. Rivers must get his game on, or else the Chiefs’ Mahomes-led offense will make LA suffer.

Patrick Mahomes completed 36 of 50 passes for 446 yards and three touchdowns against Tennessee’s top-10 scoring defense. Even if the defense is much better at stopping the pass, the Chiefs’ ground game with Damien Williams and LeSean McCoy is deadly.

Betting Trends

  • Kansas City is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games.
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Kansas City's last five games.
  • Kansas City is 2-4 SU in their last six games.
  • LA Chargers are 3-6 ATS in their last nine games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of LA Chargers' last nine games.
  • LA Chargers are 3-6 SU in their last nine games.

Insider Prediction:  It’s hard to pick the Chargers because they’ve been such a disappointment all season. When you think LA has it packed down, they drop the ball. Despite Kansas City’s loss to Tennessee, Mahomes is back and getting healthier. Kansas City is my pick.

Pick: Chiefs -5
