Why Bet on the Colts?

Luck is on Indianapolis’ side, literally. The Colts’ star QB is a grizzled veteran that has pulled his team from the jaws of defeat time and time again.

Under Frank Reich’s coaching, the Colts may have found the formula to mess with the Chiefs’ plans. Indianapolis offensive line coupled with a solid ground game spearheaded by Marlon Mack is a powerful combination that can make Kansas City’s defense crumble.

If Indianapolis can pound the ground successfully, eat up the clock and keep Mahomes off of the field, they may have found a plan of action for winning.

But, it’s not only the offense that has improved. The Colts defense showed how dominant it could be in their game against the Texans. This season they’re among the top ten teams in points allowed per game (21.5 ppg).

Why Bet on the Chiefs?

The Colts jumped out of the gate at the beginning of the season and earned their spot atop the AFC with a 12-4 record, including 7-1 at Arrowhead Stadium.

However, KC hasn’t been as kind to ATS bettors as their win record suggests. The Chiefs went 1-4 ATS at home in their last five games of the season and only covered against the hapless Raiders in their final game of the season.

Also, though the Chiefs light up the scoreboard, they also give up just as many and are ninth in points allowed per game at 26.

KC’s Achilles heel seems to be penalties committed, averaging a league-worst 8.6 penalties per game which could open the door to an early exit from the road to Super Bowl LIII.

Colts vs. Chiefs Betting Trends

  • Indianapolis is 4-1 ATS in its last five games
  • Indianapolis is 4-1 ATS in its last five games on the road
  • Indianapolis is 12-4 ATS in its last 16 games when playing Kansas City
  • Kansas City is 1-5-1 ATS in its last seven games
  • Kansas City is 1-4 ATS in its last five games at home
  • Kansas City is 1-7 ATS in its last eight games when playing at home against Indianapolis

Game Prediction: The Colts at +5.5 seems like a good bet. The Chiefs secondary is shaky, and it gives Luck an opening to exploit with his pass attack. Though the Chiefs are the better team on paper, it’s the Colts that hold the edge with experience.

Pick: Colts +5.5
