Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Texans head into this game hoping to pull off another performance that led to a win over the Chiefs back in October. But, can Houston keep Patrick Mahomes off of the field this time around? Keep reading to get a free pick!

Betting on the Texans?

The Texans got through to the divisional round by the skin of their teeth. If not for Josh Allen’s lack of experience, that allowed Houston to rally back and win the game, the Bills would be facing Kansas City.

However, the Chiefs are a different animal, and you shouldn’t expect Houston’s defense to be much of a factor that gets in the way of Patrick Mahomes’ passing attack.

Back in October, when the Texans beat KC, Houston’s defense was successful in keeping Mahomes off of the field. But, the Chiefs’ defense has improved since, so it’s not likely following the same game plan will lead to the same result this time around.

The Texans have a shot at getting to the AFC Championship game for the first time in franchise history, which is a big motivation for players, but does Deshaun Watson have another lights-out performance in him? He’ll have to if the Texans are to win the game.

Betting on the Chiefs?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense has gotten most of the attention this year. But, KC’s defense deserves a lot of credit for how they’ve improved over the past two months, and it’s making a big difference in game outcomes.

The Chiefs’ rush defense, for example, allowed just 87 rush yards per game in the last three games. KC’s pass defense has allowed only 221.4 YPG this season. And, coming out of the Week 12 break, the Chiefs allowed just 52 points in their last five games of the season.

The game plan the Chiefs will follow, though, is no secret. The Chiefs will unleash their fifth-ranked passing offense led by Mahomes, who threw for an incredible 4,000 yards and 26 touchdown passes this season.

A buck gets ten Mahomes is licking his chops at going up against the Texans’ defense. Even if Houston has J.J. Watt back in the fold, their defense sucks, and Mahomes will make it a long night for the Texans.

Betting Trends

  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Houston's last ten games.
  • Houston is 5-2 SU in their last seven games.

Insider Prediction: The Chiefs’ defense is much better now, and they’ll keep Watson from having much time on the field. Mahomes will have an excellent performance, but I don’t think this game will end up with a high score.
