Should You Bet on the Chargers?

The Chargers sent a bolt of lightning that shook up everyone last weekend in defeating the Packers, 26-10. Oakland has made some changes on offense that seem to be paying off, and have allowed quarterback Philip Rivers to get the things going.

Los Angeles’ defense also took over against the Packers, and both Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram can be fearsome defenders. The Chargers’ defense had Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a 23-point fourth-quarter hole and held the Packers to just 11 points when they average 25.

However, you might see the Chargers turn to an air attack to exploit a weak Raiders secondary that’s allowing 297.5 yards per game.

Should You Bet on the Raiders?

The Raiders opened as a slight favorite in some books after their 31-24 win over Detroit last week. Oakland is now 4-4 SU and 5-3 ATS this season.

Part of the reason for the Raiders’ resurgence is because of Rookie of the Year favorite Josh Jacobs, who’s been tearing up front sevens. Jacobs has gained 120 or more yards in three of his last four games.

The Raiders have an advantage in the ground game with Jacobs, and they can exploit the Chargers’ 20th ranked rush defense that’s allowing 120 yards per gain.

The Raiders’ defense leaves much to be desired. It’s allowed 447.3 yards per game over their last three games, which kills the 437.5 yards gained by the offense in those same three games.

Insider Prediction:  Are the Chargers on the up-and-up? It’s hard to believe that Los Angeles has turned the corner when they’ve messed up games with stupid late-game mistakes.

Week 9 gave a glimpse of what the Chargers are capable of when they’re firing on all cylinders. However, don’t count out what the energy of what could be the Raiders’ last game at RingCentral Coliseum might bring.

Pick: Chargers -1
