Why Bet on the Eagles?

The Eagles had to tread their way to a comeback win over Washington in their first game. But they’ll have up their performance if they want to cover against the Falcons in Atlanta.

However, Philadelphia did show how explosive their offense can be as they put up 436 total yards, with 313 of those coming through the air. Quarterback Carson Wentz looked good, completing 28 of 39 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns.

The Eagles also have a decent ground game with the newly-acquired Jordan Howard, who along with Darren Sproles, combined for 91 yards on 15 carries. Miles Sanders ran for 25 yards on 11 carries and picked up a touchdown that was denied on a holding penalty.

The Eagles ground game may be effective against the Falcons, who allowed 172 rushing yards to Minnesota. Look for Philadelphia to move the chains on the ground while putting up big scores via the air.

Why Bet on the Falcons?

Though the Falcons took a nasty beating at the hands of the Vikings in their first game, they might not do that bad against the Eagles considering how shaky Philadelphia was against the air attack.

The Eagles gave up 370 passing yards and three touchdowns to Washington, and the Falcons are a loaded weapon on offense with much more talent than the Redskins. Quarterback Matt Ryan and receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley could have a field day against the Eagles.

Insider Prediction:  This is a tougher matchup for the Eagles than their first game. Plus, the Falcons won’t lose quickly at home and let down their fans. The Eagles have the advantage on paper, but the Falcons will cover on this one.
