2019 NFL Week 1 picks

Ready for Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season? Here are two previews that will get you and ready to win from the get-go.

New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans

  • When: September 09, 2019, 7:10 PM ET
  • Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
  • NFL Odds: Saints -7
  • Over/Under: 53
  • Moneyline: Texans +245 vs. Saints -290

The Saints will be opening their regular season schedule on September 9, 2019, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome versus the Texans on Monday Night Football.

These are two divisional champions who combined for 24 victories last season, with NOLA finishing 13-3 and the Texans 11-5.

And, these two teams hadn’t faced each other during the regular season since 2015, when the Texans handled a 24-6 road loss to the Saints.

The Texans are a very young NFL team, so the series between these two franchises is short, and is currently tied at 2-2.

Houston features some outstanding playmakers, including receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and its quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Plus, they are defensively strong with pass rushers such as JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney. Houston has enough talent to test the Saints all over the field.

But, they’ll be facing one of the franchises that are a favorite to make it to the Super Bowl, and that also features a future Hall of Famer quarterback Drew Brees, who will make it hard to start the season.

All in all, these two teams feature high-scoring offenses, and the victory may go to the team that displays the best defense.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins

  • When: September 08, 2019, 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: Lincoln Financial Field
  • NFL Odds: Eagles -.9.5
  • Over/Under: 45.5
  • Moneyline: Washington +316 vs. Philadelphia -400

The Eagles, also one of the favorite teams to win it all in 2019-2020, will be opening their regular season at Lincoln Financial Field versus the Redskins, on September 8.

The NFC East is one of the most competitive divisions in the league, but this season this division is expected to be a direct battle between Philly and the Cowboys.

The Redskins lead the series between these two franchises 86-77-5. But lately, the Eagles are completely dominant over the Redskins, as they had won their last four meetings, with the latest victory for Philadelphia coming on December 30, 2018, when Washington got defeated 24-0.

Now, when it comes to Washington, the team has decided to handle the starting quarterback duties to Case Keenum, an 8-season veteran.

It's not shocking news, as Colt McCoy hasn’t practiced in almost two weeks, and Dwayne Haskins, a first-round pick, still lacks experience.

But Keenum’s position is not secured, as he must get results to take the starting QB job for good, and to do that, he needs to get results.

So, he’ll have a tough test to start with, and he passes it, the future of the Redskins can be bright this season.

  • Washington is 2-4 ATS in their previous six games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Washington's previous 20 games.
  • Washington is 1-6 SU in their last seven games.
