2014 Portugal Open and BMW Open Predictions on Monday April 28

Portugal and BMW Open

The Portugal Open and the BMW Open start on Monday with Milos Raonic the top choice in tennis odds to win in Portugal while Tommy Haas is the top seed in Germany. Here is a look at both tournaments and tennis predictions.

Portugal Open

A field of 28 will look to win this clay court event that begins on Monday. The ATP World Tour 250 tournament takes place in Oeiras, Portugal. The top seed for this event should be Milos Raonic as world number three Stanislas Wawrinka pulled out of the tournament. Wawrinka is having a great season and he wanted to rest up before playing Masters events in Madrid and Rome.

The top challengers to Raonic should be Dmitry Tursunov, Benoit Paire, Pablo Andujar, Marcel Granollers, Joao Sousa and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Last year it was Wawrinka winning this event while Juan Martin del Potro won it in 2011 and 2012. Albert Montanes won it is 2009 and 2010. Montanes could be a threat this year as he will be playing in a field that is without any top players.

BMW Open

This ATP World Tour 250 is also played on clay. It will have a field of 28 players in Munich, Germany. It is the first of five German tournaments on the schedule. Germans have done well for the home fans, winning the event six times. Tommy Haas won the tourney last year and he is back to defend his title. He was able to get past Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-6(3) to win the title last year. The field for this year’s tournament is pretty good with Haas and Kohlschreiber returning. They are joined by Fabio Fognini, Mikhail Youzhny, Gael Monfils, Vasek Pospisil, Florian Mayer and Lleyton Hewitt.

Haas and Kohlschreiber have won this tourney the last two years. Nikolay Davydenko won this event in 2011 while Mikhail Youzhny won it in 2010. Tomas Berdych won the title in 2009 while Fernando Gonzalez won it in 2008. Kohlschreiber is a two-time champ having won the title in 2007.

I will go with Raonic to win in Portugal and Haas to win in Germany.
