Jones vs. Reyes

Analysis: The undisputed light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, is building his legacy as the mixed martial arts GOAT. Few people would disagree that Jones is not well underway from his objective.

But, Jones hasn’t been as dominant as ever in his most recent fights; Jones won a tough split decision over Thiago Santos in July 2019 but showed some chinks in his armor in the victory.

Reyes has exploded onto the Octagon with an undefeated record that’s hard to ignore. In winning, Reyes’ success caught Jones’ attention, but can the newcomer become this Goliath’s David?

Reyes has the knockout power to rock Jones’ cage. But, Jones is known for breaking down opponents and smashing them into a pulp.

Though Reyes seems to have the athleticism, speed, and power to stand toe-to-toe with Jones, the champ has too much experience written in blood to think he’ll lose.

Pick: Jones by KO in the third round.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Katlyn Chookagian

UFC Odds: Chookagian +750 vs. Shevchenko -1100

Analysis: Shevchenko is a monster-sized favorite over Chookagian to win this fight. Shevchenko is mauling opponents ever since she moved to flyweight, and I don’t think Chookagian will fare any differently.

As Jessica Eye and Shevchenko’s other opponents can attest to, the Kyrgyzstani is deadly in her striking and grappling.

Though Chookagian is on a two-fight win streak, Shevchenko is fighting at another level. I don’t see this fight going any other way than with a win for Shevchenko.

Pick: Shevchenko first-round KO.

Juan Adams vs. Justin Tafa

UFC Odds: Adams -245 vs. Tafa +195

Analysis: This is a nice filler fight on the main card to get people excited for Jones vs. Reyes. Don’t expect these heavyweights to pull any punches.

Adams vs. Tafa might turn into a slugfest, which is what the UFC is expecting. Hopefully, these two are up to the task, as I believe they are because both fighters lost their previous fights, and another loss won’t look good on their records.

Adams is the more experienced fighter out of the two, this being his fourth fight in the UFC; it’s Tafa’s second fight in the UFC after losing via KO to Yorgan De Castro in his first fight.

Tafa’s KO in his first fight has to be hanging over his head as black clouds; Adams is trailing a couple of losses but has a few more fights to draw experience from, and I believe this will count to his advantage.

Pick: Adams via decision.
