UFC Fight Night 146

The bone-crunching action returns when former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos takes on Derrick Lewis for UFC Fight Night 146. The UFC betting lineshave dos Santos as the -220 favorite, but will “The Black Beast” prove to be the winner? Let’s see.

UFC Fight Night 146: Lewis vs. dos Santos

  • Date: March 09, 2019, 5:00 PM ET
  • Venue: Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, Kansas.

Analysis: The card for Fight Night 146 is headlined by heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Junior dos Santos. Lewis finds himself as the underdog and enters the Octagon having lost to Daniel Cormier in his previous bout. Dos Santos, on the other hand, has won two in a row.

Dos Santos’ career appears to be on the up and up with two consecutive wins for the first time since winning ten straight from 2008 to 2012. The Brazilian fighter is a hard-hitter that is always on the lookout for a knockout punch. Though he’s not won a fight via TKO since 2013, you should expect him to stay away from getting into a ground battle.

Meanwhile, Lewis’ loss to Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight title at UFC 230 was a problematic stumble. But, before the defeat, “The Black Beast” had a three-fight winning streak. Lewis also has the ability to knock out his opponents at any point in the fight, preferring to stay on his feet rather than going to the mat.

This fight will likely be one that doesn’t hit the ground unless needed. Both fighters will seek a knockout punch and stay on their feet.

Prediction: Dos Santos wins via TKO.

UFC Fight Night 146 Co-main event: Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Curtis Millender

Analysis: Dos Santos will attempt to extend his six-fight winning streak. The Brazilian lost his first fight in the UFC but has since recovered with the said six wins that include three via knockout. The 32-year-old has plenty of power and is always seeking to push forward to trap his opponents to deliver a knockout punch.

Millender is still undefeated in the UFC, beginning with a second-round knockout win over Thiago Alves in his debut. Millender has been crafty in slowing down his opponents with kicks that allow him to go the distance in fights. Though dos Santos may appear to have the advantage in power over Millender, it’s “Curtious” who should have an edge if he can avoid taking the fight to the ground.

Prediction: Curtis Millender wins.
