The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball franchise based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hawks compete in the NBA as an Eastern Conference, Southeast Division member. They play their home games at State Farm Arena, a multi-purpose venue located in Fulton County.

The team started in the NBL National Basketball League, as the Buffalo Bisons in 1946 in Buffalo, New York. Only 38 days after their founding, they moved to Moline, Illinois, and were renamed the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. They became part of the NBA in 1949, thanks to the NBL-BAA merger. They later moved to Milwaukee and renamed Milwaukee Hawks, and then to St. Louis in 1955, where they won their only NBA Title in 1958. They also qualified to play the NBA Finals in 1957, 1960, and 1961.

The St. Louis Hawks relocated to Atlanta in 1968 after attempting failing to make a deal with the city to upgrade or replace their old home, the Kiel Auditorium. The franchise was sold to former Georgia Governor Carl Sanders and business partner Thomas Cousins after striking an agreement to build the Omni Coliseum, now part of the CNN Center, which opened in 1972, which they shared with the former Atlanta Flames of the NHL. To match the Flames, they also debuted a new logo and colors that season to red, white, and gold.

Media tycoon Ted Turner, the owner of the MLB's Atlanta Braves, bought the team in 1977. The Atlanta Hawks were the only NBA team in the Deep South, just like the Atlanta Braves were in Major League Baseball. So Turner's ownership was vital in keeping both teams in the city.

The Atlanta Hawks enjoyed a time in the league's elite between 1985 and 1989, with positive records of 50 or more victories each season. They won the division title in 1987. However, they failed to advance past the first rounds against powerhouses like the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons.

The Hawks own the second-longest drought, only behind the Sacramento Kings, of not winning a championship in 63 seasons. They even went for 48 years without reaching the second round of the playoffs until 2015. However, the Hawks are among only four NBA teams to qualify to play the NBA playoffs in ten or more consecutive seasons in the XXI century, a feat they achieved between 2008 and 2017.

Present-day Hawks are a competitive team. Under the direction of General manager Landry Fields and Head coach Nate McMillan, the Hawks have made several moves to upgrade their roster, acquiring a combination of proven veteran players, like Wing Bogdan Bogdanovic, Point Guard Lance Stephenson, and power forward Danilo Gallinari, with young talents like Kris Dunn and Rajon Rondo; which earned them a trip to the 2021 Conference Finals.

How to Bet on the Atlanta Hawks

BetPhoenix.ag not only provides you with the best Atlanta Hawks Vegas odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this guide, to help our customers increase their chances of winning and introduce you to all the many moneymaking options available when wagering on the NBA, from the preseason through the NBA Finals.

After a rough season start that resulted in the firing of Coach Lloyd Pierce, then-assistant coach Nate McMillan took over, and the Hawks rebounded to a strong season finish. They looked utterly different under McMillan and were on everyone's radar as Trae Young became one of the hottest players, outperforming all expectations. Coupled with the return of an injured Clint Capela, the Hawks have what appears to be a winning formula.

Placing your Atlanta Hawks bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Atlanta Hawks Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of an Atlanta Hawks Point Spreads line:

Team Points Spread Odds

  • Atlanta Hawks -11
  • Houston Rockets +11

In this case, the line indicates that the Atlanta Hawks are the favorite to win by a margin of more than eleven points against the Houston Rockets. On the other side, the Houston Rockets are the underdog and can lose by less than an eleven points margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Hawks's point spreads expect them to win by a margin over than -11 point spread, while people betting on the underdog are expecting the Portland Trail Blazers to lose by less than +11 points to cover the spread.

· Hawks win by twelve or more points: Hawks bettors win

· Hawks win by precisely 11 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Hawks win by ten points or less: Rockets bettors win

· Rockets win the game: Rockets bettors win

Atlanta Hawks Moneylines

The Atlanta Hawks Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and there is a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of an Atlanta Hawks Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

  • Atlanta Hawks -700
  • Houston Rockets +500

Using this example, the Atlanta Hawks Moneyline would result as follows:

· Hawks Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Hawks -700, you would need to risk $700.

· Houston Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Rockets +500, you would receive $500 if Houston wins the game.

Hawks Moneylines and Hawks point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Atlanta Hawks Over/Under Totals

The Hawks Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of Atlanta Hawks Totals as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Atlanta Hawks vs. Houston Rockets

  • Total: 241.5
  • Over odds: -110
  • Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Atlanta Hawks Parlays

Atlanta Hawks Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially, since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. Betphoenix will increase your Atlanta Hawks Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Hawks parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

As an example, we can combine the Atlanta Hawks Point Spread of -11 and the Over of 241.5. We can add another couple of plays to the Hawks parlay, like the Miami Heat -4.5 against the Indiana Pacers and the Under 220.5 on that game.

  • Hawks Spread: -11 -110
  • Hawks Totals: Over 241.5 -110
  • Heat Spread: -4.5 -110
  • Heat Totals: Under 220.5 -110

This 4-team Heart Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 10x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $100 would earn you a payout of $1228.34, with these possible outcomes:

· Hawks Point Spread covers, Hawks over/under covers, Heat Point Spread covers, and the Heat over/under covers. All bets cover: Win $1228.34

· Hawks Point Spread pushes, Hawks over/under covers, Heat Point Spread covers, and the Heat over/under covers. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 3-team parlay: Win $614.17

· Hawks Point Spread covers, Hawks over/under doesn't cover, Heat Point Spread covers, and the Heat over/under covers. Loss: -$100

· Hawks Point Spread covers, Hawks over/under covers, Heat Point Spread doesn't cover, and the Heat over/under covers. Loss: -$100

· Hawks Point Spread covers, Hawks over/under covers, Heat Point Spread covers, and the Heat over/under doesn't cover. Loss: -$100

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Atlanta Hawks Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Atlanta Hawks Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

  • 4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 7 points Teaser for 3 Teams
  • 9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Hawks Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but it comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the Hawks spread -11 and Hawks total Over 241.5, plus the Heat spread -4.5, and the Heat Over 220.5 on a 5-point 4-team Hawks teaser would be as follows:

Atlanta Hawks vs. Houston Rockets

· Original Hawks spread -11 with a 241.5 Hawks Over/Under

· New adjusted teased Hawks spread -6 with a new over 235.5 for the Hawks Over/Under

Miami Heat vs. Sacramento Kings

· Original Heat spread -4.5 with a 220.5 Heat Over/Under

· New adjusted teased Heat +0.5 with a new over 215.5 for the Heat Over/Under

In the hypothetical case of the Hawks winning the game 124-116 (-8/240), the Hawks odds and Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 5-team 4-point Teaser, as they would cover the new -6 point spread, and the over 235.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

The Hawks big move this season was to maintain its core from last season. By signing extension deals with John Collins and Trae Young, Atlanta has secured their future by ensuring its two best players stay long-term. With Nate McMillan at the helm, Atlanta has shown that they have a decent chance to win their division.

Atlanta Hawks Odds To Win the Eastern Conference Championship

Atlanta Hawks odds to win the Eastern Conference: +1600

Before the second part of last season, Atlanta was seen as a lottery. After finishing with the best records in the league for the final stretch with 27-11, they earned the No. 5 seed. The Hawks have shown that they can be legitimate contenders, but winning the conference will not be an easy feat.

Atlanta Hawks Odds To NBA Championship

Atlanta Hawks odds to win NBA Championship: +3500

The Hawks must show consistency and continue to improve if they want a realistic chance of winning the Championship. They are currently considered a remote contender.
