The Dallas Mavericks are a professional NBA basketball team based in Dallas, Texas. They compete in the NBA as a Western Conference, Southwest Division member, being the only major sports team in the city. The Mavericks were founded as an expansion team in 1980, bringing professional basketball back to the city after the Dallas Chaparrals moved to San Antonio in 1973, becoming the San Antonio Spurs. The team was named through a fan contest, where the entry inspired by the western TV-Series Maverick was chosen.

They host their home games at the American Airlines Center since its opening in 2001. This indoor multi-purpose venue is located on Victory Park in Downtown Dallas, and it's named after the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport-based carrier. This arena is also home to the Dallas Stars of the NHL.

The Mavericks joined the league in the 1980-81 season, struggling at first like many expansion teams. Dallas posted their first winning season and playoff appearance in their fourth season, guided by a young team that included Mark Aguirre, Rolando Blackman, and Derek Harper. The Mavericks continued to improve their roster through smart draft choices, qualifying for the postseason in five consecutive seasons from the 1983–84 to the 1987–88 season, where they made it to the conference finals. Many of the Mavericks' early stars had left or retired by 1990, causing them to fall into a long period of mediocrity. The team posted losing records in ten consecutive seasons from the 1990-91 to the 1999-00.

The 2000s started with the team being sold to business Mogul Mark Cuban, which kicked off the Mavericks' turnaround in a new era of an ambitious vision and deep pockets, making the team an appealing destination for free agents. Cuban appointed Don Nelson as Head coach and general manager to oversee the procurement of a top-quality squad that would start a dynasty led by stars Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, and Michael Finley, assembling one of the highest-powered offenses in the league. The Mavericks became one of the regular contenders in the Western Conference in the following decade of the century, making the playoffs for the next twelve years straight. They made it to their first NBA finals in 2006, losing to the Miami Heat. The Mavericks delivered their best regular season record to date the very next season, with 67-15, but continued to experienced disappointment in the postseason. This disappointment ended in 2011 when they beat the Heat in the finals to seize their first NBA championship. With an aging squad in the 2012–13 season, they posted a 41-41 record, which meant the end of this twelve-year postseason streak. But the Mavericks rebounded quickly, clinching a playoff berth in the next three consecutive seasons, ending all with a first-round exit. With a wholly depleted roster, Mavericks would post losing records for three consecutive campaigns, finishing dead last in its division in the 2018-19 season.

This inflection point was met with a complete overhaul around the signing of Luka Doncic, who was initially drafted third by the Atlanta Hawks. Doncic would be Rookie of the year in 2019, Nowitzki's final year with the Mavericks, retiring at the end of the season. Their shopping spree brought Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, and Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas. Doncic carried Dallas with an average close to a 30-point triple-double, leading the Mavericks in points, assists, and rebounds, making Dallas the top offense in the league. These next three seasons would see the Mavericks finishing first or second in their division and making it to the playoffs every one of these years, making the 2022 Conference Finals that they lost to the Warriors.

After a three-year absence, the Dallas Mavericks returned to the NBA Playoffs in 2020–21 on a brief run, where they were defeated by top-seed Utah Jazz in the opening round. Even so, the campaign was a success, and their young point guard star Ja Morant, made essential advancements, and with Jaren Jackson Jr. returning to the lineup, there is a reason for Mavericks fans to be excited.

Placing your Dallas Mavericks bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Dallas Mavericks Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Dallas Mavericks Point Spread line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Dallas Mavericks -2

Golden State Warriors +2

In this case, the line indicates that the Dallas Mavericks are the favorite to win by a margin of more than two points against the Golden State Warriors. On the other side, the Warriors are the underdog and can lose by less than a two-point margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Mavericks point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -2-point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Warriors to lose by less than 2 points to cover the spread.

· Mavericks win by three or more points: Mavericks bettors win

· Mavericks win by precisely 2 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Mavericks win by one point: Warriors bettors win

· Warriors win the game: Warriors bettors win

Dallas Mavericks Moneylines

The Dallas Mavericks Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of a Dallas Mavericks Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

Dallas Mavericks -125

Golden State Warriors +110

Using this example, the Dallas Mavericks Moneyline would result as follows:

· Mavericks Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Dallas Mavericks -125, you would need to risk $125.

· Wizards Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Warriors +110, you would receive $110 if Washington wins the game.

Mavericks Moneylines and Mavericks point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Dallas Mavericks Over/Under Totals

The Mavericks Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Dallas Mavericks Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors

Total: 227.5

Over odds: -110

Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Dallas Mavericks Parlays

Dallas Mavericks Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Dallas Mavericks Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Mavericks parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the Dallas Mavericks Point Spread of -2 and the Over of 227.5. We can add other plays to the Mavericks parlay, like the Boston Celtics -9 against the Miami Heat and the Under 224.5, to make a 4-team Mavericks Parlay.

Mavericks Spread: -2 -110

Mavericks Totals: Over 227.5 -110

Celtics Spread: -9 -110

Celtics Totals: Under 224.5 -110

This 4-team Mavericks Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 10x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $75 would earn you a payout of $921.25, with these possible outcomes:

· Mavericks Point Spread covers, Mavericks over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover, so all bets cover: Win $921.25

· Mavericks Point Spread pushes, Mavericks over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 3-team Mavericks parlay: Win $446.84

· Mavericks Point Spread covers, Mavericks over/under doesn't cover, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$75

· Mavericks Point Spread covers, Mavericks over/under covers, and any of the other two lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$75

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Dallas Mavericks Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Mavericks teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Dallas Mavericks Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

7 points Teaser for 3 Teams

9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Mavericks Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 4-team 9-point Mavericks teaser would be as follows:

Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 9 points in your favor)

Mavericks Spread: -2 down to +7

Mavericks Totals: Over 227.5 down to 218.5

Celtics Spread: -9 down to PK

Celtics Totals: Under 224.5 up to 233.5

In the hypothetical case of the Mavericks winning the game 110-114 (+2/224), the Mavericks odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 4-team 9-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +7 point spread, and the Under 218.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

Dallas Mavericks Regular Season Win Totals: 48.5

Dallas Mavericks odds to win the Southwest Division: +125

Dallas Mavericks odds to win the Western Conference: +850

Dallas Mavericks odds to win NBA Championship: +1750

Dallas Mavericks Odds To Win the Southwest Division

Dallas Mavericks odds to win the Southwest Division: +125

The Dallas Mavericks are sitting with the second most favored odds to win their division. They closely trail the Memphis Grizzlies, slightly ahead of runner-up the New Orleans Pelicans and far from the group's underdogs in the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. This competitive division can boil down to the individual battle between Luca Doncic and Ja Morant for the divisional crown.

Dallas Mavericks Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship

Dallas Mavericks odds to win the Western Conference: +850

The Mavericks sit in the top half of the list in terms of odds of winning the conference, with the favorites group comprised of the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, and Phoenix Suns, and slightly ahead of the contenders Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans. The Mavericks don't get a lot of love from the media lately but have proven to be an impressive and consistent team all year long.

Dallas Mavericks Odds To NBA Championship

Dallas Mavericks odds to win NBA Championship: +1750

The Dallas Mavericks are rated with the group of challengers to win the title, a good step behind the recent juggernauts like the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks will be contending for the title, thanks to Luka Doncic being a member of this team.

Dallas Mavericks 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the 42nd season for the Dallas Mavericks as a franchise. This would also be their first season under new coach Jason Kidd after long-time coach Rick Carlisle decided to leave for the Indiana Pacers. Kidd was an assistant coach at the Los Angeles Lakers and is tasked with taking this franchise to the next level. The Mavericks start the season after obtaining a positive 42-30 record in the 2020-21 season, enough to win the conference and earn them the fifth seed and a playoff berth, where they lost in the first round to the Clippers.

The season ended up being a lot of fun with Luka Doncic looking spectacular, so it was expected for him to show up in shape, but he didn't, with a lingering ankle injury that had the team in shambles, showing an unseen mediocrity for the first part of the season. Things turned around in January. With Doncic healthy, they would only lose 12 games in the last stretch, finishing with a 52-30 record, second in their division, and earning the fourth seed. The Mavericks' playoff run started by passing over the Utah Jazz in the first round and a victory over the Phoenix Suns in the conference semifinals, only to lose to the Golden State Warriors in the conference finals.
