The Denver Nuggets are a professional NBA basketball team based in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets compete in the NBA as a Western Conference, Northwest Division member. The Nuggets were founded in 1967 as the Denver Larks of the ABA, changing their name to the Rockets shortly after and then to the Nuggets in 1974. They joined the NBA in 1976 product of the ABA-NBA Merger. The name Nuggets refers to the gold mining boom in Colorado in the 19th century.
They host their home games at the Ball Arena since its inauguration in 1999. This indoor venue is located in the Auraria neighborhood of Downtown Denver, Salt Lake City, named after Colorado-based packaging company Ball Corporation, one of the team's primary sponsor. This modern venue is also the home of the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL.
Originally named the Denver Rockets, they were one of the founding teams of the American Basketball Association in 1967. With local star center Byron Beck from the University of Denver, the Rockets were a great team and held winning records for their first three seasons. In anticipation of their incorporation into the NBA, where the Houston Rockets had their name, they changed to the Nuggets in 1974. The Nuggets were among the most successful ABA teams in their early NBA years, posting winning records and making it to the playoffs in their first three seasons.
In 1980 Denver incorporated Alex English, who would become the all-time leading scorer in his ten seasons with the team. Under coach Doug Moe, they became a high-scoring team but also giving up many points, which made them known popularly as the Enver Nuggets (Without the D, as in without Defense). This approach proved effective as they made nine consecutive postseason appearances in 1982 and 1990. Moe and English left the team in 1990 without being able to bring the title to Denver.
Despite drafting Dikembe Mutombo in 1991, the 1990s were a nonremarkable decade for the Nuggets, posting only one winning season in that period. Financial struggles came due to the ownership diversifying their business, as they bought the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL to make them the Colorado Avalanche, which put a strain on the Nugget's wallet.
The 2000s brought new winds to Denver, as under coaches Jeff Bzdelik and George Karl, and the drafting of future All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony would bring them back to contention. They posted ten consecutive winning seasons and playoff appearances between 2004 and 2013, winning the division title in 2006 and 2010. Their performance in the playoffs was not impressive, falling in the first round in all but the 2009 season, where they made it to the conference finals.
In 2011 the Nuggets started their latest rebuild, transferring Carmelo Anthony along with another five players. Their post-Anthony era started surprisingly well, with Danilo Galiani taking the lead on-court, but missing the later part of the season due to injury. Former Kings coach Michael Malone was tasked with the following reconstruction, building a team that posted five consecutive winning seasons, making them a regular at the playoffs, and winning the 2019 and 2020 division titles.

Denver Nuggets Spreads
Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Denver Nuggets Point Spread line:
Team Points Spread Odds
Denver Nuggets -2
Oklahoma City Thunder +2
In this case, the line indicates that the Denver Nuggets are the favorite to win by a margin of more than two points against the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the other side, the Thunder are the underdog and can lose by less than a two-point margin.
A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.
People betting on the Nuggets point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -2 point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Pistons to lose by less than 2 points to cover the spread.
· Nuggets win by three or more points: Nuggets bettors win
· Nuggets win by precisely 2 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded
· Nuggets win by one point: Thunder bettors win
· Thunder win the game: Thunder bettors win
Denver Nuggets Moneylines
The Denver Nuggets Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.
This is an example of a Denver Nuggets Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Team Moneyline
Denver Nuggets -110
Oklahoma City Thunder +115
Using this example, the Denver Nuggets Moneyline would result as follows:
· Nuggets Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Denver Nuggets -110, you would need to risk $110.
· Thunder Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Pistons +115, you would receive $115 if Oklahoma City wins the game.
Nuggets Moneylines and Nuggets point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.
Denver Nuggets Over/Under Totals
The Nuggets Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Denver Nuggets Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Denver Nuggets vs. Detroit Pistons
Total: 230.5
Over odds: -110
Under odds: -110
For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.
Denver Nuggets Parlays
Denver Nuggets Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.
You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Denver Nuggets Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Nuggets parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.
For example, we can combine the Denver Nuggets Point Spread of -2 and the Under of 230.5. We can add other plays to the Nuggets parlay, like the Minnesota Timberwolves -2.5 against the Indiana Pacers and the Under 235.5, to make a 4-team Nuggets Parlay.
Nuggets Spread: -2 -110
Nuggets Totals: Under 230.5 -110
Timberwolves Spread: -2.5 -110
Timberwolves Under: Over 225.5 -110
This 4-team Nuggets Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 10x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $75 would earn you a payout of $921.25, with these possible outcomes:
· Nuggets Point Spread covers, Nuggets over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover, so all bets cover: Win $921.25
· Nuggets Point Spread pushes, Nuggets over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Nuggets 3-team parlay: Win $446.84
· Nuggets Point Spread covers, Nuggets over/under doesn't cover, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$75
· Nuggets Point Spread covers, Nuggets over/under covers, and any of the other two lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$75
Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Denver Nuggets Teasers
A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Nuggets teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.
Denver Nuggets Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:
4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
7 points Teaser for 3 Teams
9 points Teaser for 4 Teams
One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.
Nuggets Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.
Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 4-team 9-point Nuggets teaser would be as follows:
Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 9 points in your favor)
Nuggets Spread: -2 down to +7
Nuggets Totals: Under 230.5 up to 239.5
Timberwolves Spread: -2.5 down to +6.5
Timberwolves Under: Over 225.5 up to 234.5
In the hypothetical case of the Nuggets losing the game 120-112 (+8/232), the Nuggets odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 4-team 9-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +7 point spread, and the Under 239.5 points.
Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.
For a complete view of teaser payouts, here is your payout table for BetPhoenix:
Teams | Payout Odds (4.0 Points) | Payout Odds (4.5 Points) | Payout Odds (5.0 Points) |
---|---|---|---|

Here are some of the most popular Nuggets Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:
Denver Nuggets Regular Season Win Totals: 49.5
Denver Nuggets odds to win the Northwest Division: -200
Denver Nuggets odds to win the Western Conference: +700
Denver Nuggets odds to win NBA Championship: +1400
Denver Nuggets Odds To Win the Northwest Division
Denver Nuggets odds to win the Northwest Division: -200
The Denver Nuggets are the favorites to win their division. They sit comfortably ahead of possible challengers, the Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz, and Minnesota Timberwolves. Regardless of this favoritism, each game will impact who wins this division since the Northwest is a group that has been finishing within a three-game difference in the past few years.
Denver Nuggets Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship
Denver Nuggets odds to win the Western Conference: +700
Denver sits in the top group on the odds of winning the conference, sharing this summit with the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans. Ruling MVP Nikola Jokic counts with an entire cast of supporting teammates to bring the Nuggets to the top and have a long run in this postseason.
Denver Nuggets Odds To NBA Championship
Denver Nuggets odds to win NBA Championship: +1400
The Denver Nuggets are listed among the group of challengers to win the championship, alongside the Nets, Cavaliers, Mavericks, Grizzlies, and 76ers, only behind this year's presumptive royalty, like the Boston Celtics, the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Buck, and the Phoenix Suns. These odds make an interesting and potentially profitable play.
Denver Nuggets 2021-2022 Season Recap
The 2021–22 was the 55th season for the Denver Nuggets as a franchise and their 46th in the NBA. They start the season hoping to improve on their previous season, where they accomplished a 47-25 record and a trip to the playoffs after being second in the conference and the third seed in the division. On this trip, they beat the Portland Trail Blazers in the first rounds and lost to the Phoenix Suns in the conference semifinals.
In a season that saw as many as nine transactions where they drafted point guard Bones Hyland and added Bryn Forbes, Jeff Green, Davon Reed, and DeMarcus Cousins, to name a few, their outlook was unclear, as these changes, plus the return to a full-schedule season would put a strain on the organization.
Nevertheless, they performed as usual, accomplishing a positive regular season with a 48-34 record, one game shy from the Utah Jazz for the division title, and clinching the sixth-seed in the conference, marking their fourth straight trip to the playoff, where they were ousted in the first round by the Warriors.
Despite MVP Nikola Jokić displaying utter dominance, with Jamal Murray missing most of the season due to injury, some expected the Nuggets' performance to decline. Still, Porter Jr.'s output virtually covered for this absence. This was an eventful gap year for the Nuggets, where they did enough to meet expectations for the regular season but still lacked the punch to make a long playoff run.
