The Detroit Pistons are a professional NBA basketball team based in Detroit, Michigan. The Pistons compete in the NBA as a member of the Eastern Conference, Central Division.

They host their home games at the Little Caesars Arena since its inauguration in 2017. This multi-purpose venue is located in Midtown Detroit, built in an original deconstructed layout where parts of the building, including restaurants, retail shops, offices, etc., are separate buildings under a unique transparent roof and connected by an indoor street. This unique venue is part of the city's effort to redevelop midtown Detroit into an entertainment referred to as District Detroit. The Arena is also home to the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL.

The franchise was established in 1937 as the Fort Wayne Pistons, a semi-professional team based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They joined the NBL in 1941, winning the championships of 1944 and 1945. They later joined the BAA in 1948. With the NBL and BAA merger in 1949, the Pistons became part of the new NBA league.

The Pistons moved to Detroit in 1951 and even counting with stars like Dave Bing, Dave DeBusschere, Bailey Howell, and Jimmy Walker, they only had losing records in their first 13 seasons in Michigan. This mediocrity continued, accomplishing only three winning seasons in 26 years.

Things changed in the late 80s when the Pistons gave legendary coach Chuck Daly the helm. He transformed the team into an aggressive and physical powerhouse, earning the nickname "The Bad Boys" of basketball. With a team led by point guard Isiah Thomas, along with Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, Rick Mahorn, and Dennis Rodman, among others, they conquered the league, becoming back-to-back champions, in 1989, overthrowing the Los Angeles Lakers and in 1990 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

With Daly's retirement, the 90s brought them back to mediocrity, and while they were able to draft notable players like Grant Hill, they couldn't find a path to success. Acquiring Ben Wallace in 2000, the Pistons returned to winning again, making it to six Eastern Conference Finals in a row, establishing a franchise record. In that span, they reached two consecutive NBA Finals, beating the Lakes in 2004 and losing to the Spurs in 2005.

Since 2009 the Pistons have been a parade of failed reconstructions, new ownership, and seven coaching changes, posting only two winning seasons in the last 14 years, reaching the first round of the playoffs on three occasions, all of them lost in a sweep. In 2020 they appointed Troy Weaver as general manager and Dwane Casey as head coach, who is currently in charge of yet another reconstruction.

The Detroit Pistons continue to try an overhaul, trusting that the young core of inexperienced players will develop and lead them back to victory. While young talent like forward Seddiq Bey and point guard Cade Cunningham continues to improve and show some brilliance, they'll need more time and more incorporations to look to continue to grow and develop as future contenders.

Placing your Detroit Pistons bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Detroit Pistons Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Detroit Pistons Point Spread line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Detroit Pistons +9

Denver Nuggets -9

In this case, the line indicates that the Detroit Pistons are the underdog. The Denver Nuggets are expected to win by a margin of more than nine points against the Pistons. On the other side, the Pistons are the underdog and can lose by less than a nine-point margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Pistons point spreads expect them to lose by a margin under a 9-point spread, while people betting on the favorites are expecting the Denver Nuggets to win by more than a 9-point difference to cover the spread.

· Nuggets win by ten or more points: Nuggets bettors win

· Nuggets win by precisely 9 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Nuggets win by eight points or less: Pistons bettors win

· Pistons win the game: Pistons bettors win

Detroit Pistons Moneylines

The Detroit Pistons Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of a Detroit Pistons Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

Detroit Pistons +340

Denver Nuggets -450

Using this example, the Detroit Pistons Moneyline would result as follows:

· Pistons Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Detroit Pistons +340, you would receive $220 if Orlando wins the game.

· Nuggets Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Denver Nuggets -450, you would need to risk $450.

Pistons Moneylines and Pistons point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Detroit Pistons Over/Under Totals

The Pistons Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Detroit Pistons Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Detroit Pistons vs. Denver Nuggets

Total: 227.5

Over odds: -110

Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Detroit Pistons Parlays

Detroit Pistons Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Detroit Pistons Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Pistons parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the Detroit Pistons Point Spread of +9 and the Under of 227.5. We can add other plays for another game spread and total to the Pistons parlay, like the Phoenix Suns -9.5 against the Los Angeles Lakers, and the total Over 226.5 to make a 4-team Pistons Parlay.

Pistons Spread: +9 -110

Pistons Totals: Under 227.5 -110

Suns Spread: -9.5 -110

Suns Totals: Over 226.5 -110

This 4-team Pistons Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 12x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $100 would earn you a payout of $1228.33, with these possible outcomes:

· Pistons Point Spread covers, Pistons over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover, so all bets cover: Win $1228.33

· Pistons Point Spread pushes, Pistons over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Pistons 3-team parlay: Win $595.79

· Pistons Point Spread covers, Pistons over/under doesn't cover, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$100

· Pistons Point Spread covers, Pistons over/under covers, and any of the other two lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$100

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Detroit Pistons Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Pistons teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Detroit Pistons Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

7 points Teaser for 3 Teams

9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Pistons Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 4-team 4-point Pistons teaser would be as follows:

Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 4 points in your favor)

Pistons Spread: +9 up to +13

Pistons Totals: Under 227.5 up to 231.5

Suns Spread: -9.5 down to -5.5

Suns Totals: Over 226.5 down to 222.5

In the hypothetical case of the Pistons losing the game 120-109 (+11/229), the Pistons odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 4-team 4-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +13 point spread and the Under 231.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

Here are some of the most popular Pistons Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:

Detroit Pistons Regular Season Win Totals: 24.5

Detroit Pistons odds to win the Central Division: +6500

Detroit Pistons odds to win the Eastern Conference: +45000

Detroit Pistons odds to win NBA Championship: +50000

Detroit Pistons Odds To Win the Central Division

Detroit Pistons odds to win the Central Division: +6500

The Detroit Pistons have the worst odds of winning the division. While it is widely recognized that Detroit is brewing something interesting, it's clearly in the early stages. Their squad consists mainly of still-developing young talent, with some aging veterans as a complement, and they are more likely to be close to a high draft pick than to be in the playoffs.

Detroit Pistons Odds To Win the Eastern Conference Championship

Detroit Pistons odds to win the Eastern Conference: +45000

Again, the Pistons have the very worst odds in the conference. While the job currently being done on their reconstruction is being recognized as good, their young squad will need some time to develop. As of now, Detroit remains the strongest candidate to be the worst team in the conference.

Detroit Pistons Odds To NBA Championship

Detroit Pistons odds to win NBA Championship: +50000

The Detroit Pistons have the fifth worst odds to win the Championship, only above the Charlotte Hornets, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Washington Wizards, all above +50000. There is still plenty for the Pistons to do to become a contending team, and a shot to the title is not in the realm of real possibilities.

Detroit Pistons 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the Pistons' 81st season as a franchise and 74th in the NBA. They were attempting to improve on their previous season's regular season record of 20-52, which left them in 14th place in the conference, earning them the first draft pick for the first time since 1970.

After the first season of reconstruction, the Weaver/Casey leadership started to see some initial progress. They finished the season with a 23-59 record, last in their division two games behind Indiana, and 14th in the conference again. And while this might sound like the same stuff, different year situation, some sparks from the new young recruits started to throw some light into the project.

Cade Cunningham, their rookie point guard, finished the season averaging 17.5 points per game, serving as the Pistons' primary playmaker. His development in his rookie season has been hailed by veteran superstars like Lebron James and Kevin Durant, naming him as an up-and-coming figure in the league's future. His skill set is filled with the aptitude to involve his teammates and extraordinary passing and scoring ability.
