The Los Angeles Clippers are a professional NBA basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Clippers compete as a Western Conference, Pacific Division member. The Clippers were founded as an expansion team in 1970, initially as the Buffalo Braves, who relocated to San Diego in 1978, adopting the name Clippers, and then to Los Angeles in 1984.
They host their home games at the Crypto.com Arena, a multi-purpose venue in Downtown Los Angeles, which they share with the other NBA team in the city, the L.A. Lakers, the L.A. Sparks of the WNBA, and the L.A. Kings of the NHL. The Clippers plan to move in 2024 to the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, a city within the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
The franchise was founded in Buffalo, New York, as the Buffalo Braves, an expansion team that joined the league in 1970 with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Portland Trail Blazers. As with many expansion teams, they struggled in their initial seasons. Under coach Jack Ramsay and players like Randy Smith, Ernie DiGregorio, and Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo, they posted three consecutive winning campaigns that resulted in consecutive playoff appearances in those years. In one of the rarest events in the league, the owner of the Boston Celtics, California native Irv Levin, wanted to relocate the Celtics to California, but the NBA refused due to the historic nature of the franchise. As a concession, Braves owner John Y. Brown traded franchises with Levin, who relocated the Braves to San Diego as the Clippers, while Brown took control of the Celtics in 1978.
The San Diego Clippers were one of the worst teams in their time in San Diego, finishing last or second-to-last in each of these six seasons. The Clippers were sold to Los Angeles-based real estate mogul Donald Sterling in 1981, who relocated them to his city in 1984. The Clippers did not do any better in Los Angeles, finishing with a losing record in the next seven seasons. In 1992, led by star Danny Manning, they posted their first winning season since 1978 and their first playoff appearance in 1976. This outlier season would not be replicated until 2006, as the Clippers returned to their usual losing ways for a stretch of eight last-place seasons in the next eleven years.
The Clippers finally assembled a promising squad in 2005, featuring Elton Brand and Chris Kaman, posting a 47-35 record and advancing to the second round, where they lost to the Phoenix Suns. Once again, in a short-lived success, as the Clippers returned to post five consecutive losing seasons. Under Sterling, the Clippers were often rated as the worst team in history, with only two winning seasons in their first 27 years in Los Angeles.
The most extensive improvement effort in franchise history was made for the 2011–12 season, acquiring superstar Chris Paul, who, coupled with All-Star Blake Griffin, helped the team advance to the conference semifinals. The Clippers accomplished franchise records with a 56-win season and their first division title in history. In 2013 they incorporated Doc Rivers, who coached the 2007-2008 Champs Boston Celtics, setting another franchise record with 57 wins, and the second division title but still failing to complete a long playoff run.
After a racism-related scandal in 2014, Sterling sold the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The Clippers continued to post solid regular season records, but Paul and Griffin leaving the team marked the end of the Clippers' six-season postseason streak in 2017. With a team consisting of role players, they surprisingly made the playoffs again in the next three seasons from 2019 to 2021, making the playoffs eight out of nine seasons, but continuing to stumble in the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Clippers should have a high-seed regular season with a deep postseason run. Although the target is the championship, many things have to go right to get to that point. Given that this squad is the first in history to take the franchise to the Conference Finals, getting to the Finals is the right expectation. The Clippers are expected to be very competitive and smart with time management for their key players, setting themselves up to make it to the postseason and be ready to seize this opportunity.
Placing your Los Angeles Clippers bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.
Los Angeles Clippers Spreads
Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Los Angeles Clippers Point Spread line:
Team Points Spread Odds
Los Angeles Clippers -4
Portland Trail Blazers +4
In this case, the line indicates that the Los Angeles Clippers are the favorite to win by a margin of more than four points against the Portland Trail Blazers. On the other side, the Trail Blazers are the underdog and can lose by less than a four-point margin.
A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.
People betting on the Clippers point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -4 point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Trail Blazers to lose by less than 4 points to cover the spread.
· Clippers win by five or more points: Clippers bettors win
· Clippers win by precisely 4 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded
· Clippers win by three points or less: Trail Blazers bettors win
· Trail Blazers win the game: Trail Blazers bettors win
Los Angeles Clippers Moneylines
The Los Angeles Clippers Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.
This is an example of a Los Angeles Clippers Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Team Moneyline
Los Angeles Clippers -170
Portland Trail Blazers +140
Using this example, the Los Angeles Clippers Moneyline would result as follows:
· Clippers Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Los Angeles Clippers -170, you would need to risk $170.
· Trail Blazers Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Trail Blazers +140, you would receive $140 if Portland wins the game.
Clippers Moneylines and Clippers point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.
Los Angeles Clippers Over/Under Totals
The Clippers Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Los Angeles Clippers Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Total: 210.5
Over odds: -110
Under odds: -110
For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.
Los Angeles Clippers Parlays
Los Angeles Clippers Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.
You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Los Angeles Clippers Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Clippers parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.
For example, we can combine the Los Angeles Clippers Point Spread of -4 and the Over of 210.5. We can add other plays to the Clippers parlay, like the New York Knicks -3.5 against the Detroit Pistons and the Under 215.5, to make a 4-team Clippers Parlay.
Clippers Spread: -4 -110
Clippers Totals: Over 210.5 -110
Knicks Spread: -3.5 -110
Knicks Total: Under 215.5 -110
This 4-team Clippers Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 12x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $50 would earn you a payout of $614.17, with these possible outcomes:
· Clippers Point Spread covers, Clippers over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover, so all bets cover: Win $614.17
· Clippers Point Spread pushes, Clippers over/under covers, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Clippers 3-team parlay: Win $297.90
· Clippers Point Spread covers, Clippers over/under doesn't cover, and the other two lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$50
· Clippers Point Spread covers, Clippers over/under covers, and any of the other two lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$50
Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Los Angeles Clippers Teasers
A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Clippers teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.
Los Angeles Clippers Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:
4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
7 points Teaser for 3 Teams
9 points Teaser for 4 Teams
One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.
Clippers Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.
Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 4-team 9-point Clippers teaser would be as follows:
Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 9 points in your favor)
Clippers Spread: -4 to +5
Clippers Totals: Over 210.5 to 201.5
Knicks Spread: -3.5 to +5.5
Knicks Total: Under 215.5 to 224.5
In the hypothetical case of the Clippers losing the game 103-105 (+2/208), the Clippers odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 4-team 9-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +5 point spread and the Over 201.5 points.
Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.
For a complete view of teaser payouts, here is your payout table for BetPhoenix:
Teams | Payout Odds (4.0 Points) | Payout Odds (4.5 Points) | Payout Odds (5.0 Points) |
---|---|---|---|

3 | 9/5 | 8/5 | 7/5 |
4 | 3/1 | 5/2 | 2/1 |

7 | 10/1 | 9/1 | 8/1 |
8 | 15/1 | 12/1 | 10/1 |

Here are some of the most popular Clippers Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:
Los Angeles Clippers Regular Season Win Totals: 45.5
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win the Pacific Division: +275
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win the Western Conference: +275
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win the NBA Championship: +675
Los Angeles Clippers Odds To Win the Pacific Division
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win the Pacific Division: +275
The Clippers sit with the third-best odds win their division, behind the Phoenix Suns and favorites, and closely training the Golden State Warriors. They are also rated meaningfully better than the Lakers and the Kings at the very bottom of the list. The Clippers have made significant improvements, yet they are a team without a third man. Ivica Zubac can fill that role and give Jackson and Mann the support they need to take this team to the division's top.
Los Angeles Clippers Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win the Western Conference: +275
Similar to the divisional picture, the Los Angeles Clippers sit at the top of the odds of winning the conference, along with the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns as favorites, and one good notch above the challenger's group that includes the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Nuggets, and Pelicans. The winner of the pacific conference will likely land the first seed spot, reason why the lines are so similar.
Los Angeles Clippers Odds To NBA Championship
Los Angeles Clippers odds to win NBA Championship: +675
The Los Angeles Clippers are among the top group in terms of odds of winning the championship. They share the favorites group with the Boston Celtics, the Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Phoenix suns. As you can see, three of the five favorites are divisional rivals, making the chances that the winner of the Pacific division makes it all the way reasonably high.
Los Angeles Clippers 2021-2022 Season Recap
The 2021–22 was the 52nd season for the Los Angeles Clippers as a franchise and their 38th in Los Angeles. They start the season as a transition year after the departure of longtime head coach Doc Rivers and losing star Chris Paul the year prior. Regardless of the challenges, and with a star-less squad, they aspired to beat the 47-25 record accomplished the previous season, making it to the playoffs for the fourth year straight.
Los Angeles Clippers' journey through the 2021–22 NBA season was long and winding, with many highs and lows. Despite being among the league leaders in "Man Games Lost," the players' passion and energy allowed the squad to complete their 11th consecutive winning campaign. They closed the regular season with a 42-40 record, qualifying for the lockdown play-in, but they failed to make the playoffs after consecutive defeats to the Timberwolves and the Pelicans.
