The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional NBA basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Lakers compete as a Western Conference, Pacific Division member. They were founded as the Minneapolis Lakers, a chartered National Basketball League member, joining the NBA one season later. They relocated to Los Angeles in 1960, maintaining the Lakers name, despite being a reference to Minnesota's nickname, "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Along with the Boston Celtics, the Lakers are among the two most laureate teams in the league with 17 championships.

They host their home games at the Crypto.com Arena since 1999, a multi-purpose venue in Downtown Los Angeles, which they share with the L.A. Clippers, the L.A. Sparks of the WNBA, and the L.A. Kings of the NHL.

The new Lakers team first competed in the NBL, winning the 1948 title before switching to the rival BAA, which later became the NBA. Led by star George Mikan, they would win five championships in their first six years in the league. Attendance fell after Mikan's retirement, prompting financial difficulties that led to the team moving to Los Angeles in 1960.

The now Los Angeles Lakers reached the NBA finals six times in the 1960s, losing to the Boston Celtics in every one of those appearances, despite counting with all-time greats like Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. Led by West, Goodrich, and Chamberlain, the Lakers set the records for the longest winning streak during the 1971–72 season, with 33 games, together with a best regular season record of 69–13, that held until the 1995–96 season, broken by the Chicago Bulls. In 1972 the Lakers won their first NBA championship in Los Angeles, reaching the finals again in 1973, losing to the New York Knicks. After Chamberlain's retirement, the team experienced a sharp downturn, and the Lakers missed the playoffs in two consecutive seasons in 1975 and 1976, for the first time in history.

Drafting Magic Johnson as the first pick in 1979 marked the beginning of the Lakers' most dominant era-Coach by legendary Pat Riley, Johnson, together with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy, the spectacular "Showtime" Lakers would accumulate eight NBA finals appearances in a decade, with five championships in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1988. This also rekindled the rivalry with the Celtics, with direct encounters in 1984, 1985, and 1987, bringing the NBA to previously unseen levels of popularity.

This ended with Abdul-Jabbar and Johnson's retirement, and the Lakers' performance dropped. While still reaching the playoffs regularly, they failed to advance to the finals for eight straight seasons, the longest drought in their history. Things changed in 1999 with the hiring of Phil Jackson, who guided a team that featured Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant to three consecutive titles. While Shaq was traded in 2004, Jackson reconfigured the team with Kobe at the helm, reaching the finals again in 2008, losing to the Celtics. They returned to the finals in 2009, beating Orlando, and in 2010 defeating the Celtics for their 15th and 16th title.

After coach Jackson retired, the Lakers entered a downward spiral. Despite acquiring All-Stars Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, they delivered inconsistently and suffered multiple injuries. With Bryant and Nash injured for most of the 2013-2014 season, they posted the first losing season in a decade. Bryant also missed most of the following season, and in 2016 they posted a franchise-worst 17–65, with Bryant retiring. Before this, the Lakers had missed the postseason only five times in 60 seasons, to missing six payoffs straight between 2013 and 2018.

In 2018 Magic Johnson took over the team as president of basketball operations, luring LeBron James to the Lakers, but after failing to improve the team considerably, Johnson resigned. The following season was marked by Bryant's passing in a helicopter crash and the NBA suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the league resuming in a lockdown and shortened schedule, the Lakers saw the most stellar Lebron James, beating the Miami Heat in the Finals to win their 17th championship title.

After a 2021 season with high expectations, they ended up out of the playoffs again with a 33-49 record with an injury-ridden lineup that forced coach Vogel to use 41 different starting squads, with their power trio of James, Davis, and Westbrook only playing in 21 games together. They have a super team that needs to focus on health and momentum.

How to Bet on the Los Angeles Lakers

BetPhoenix.ag not only provides you with the best Los Angeles Lakers Vegas odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this guide, to help our customers increase their chances of winning and introduce you to all the many moneymaking options available when wagering on the NBA, from the preseason through the NBA Finals.

The Los Angeles Lakers have a potent lineup that includes tons of veteran talent in superstars like Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Russell Westbrook. Still, many think this squad is not a legitimate contender, with struggles attributed to injuries, as James and Davis have suffered through the last two seasons. The Lakers are confident in James and Davis delivering again, along with many young players recently added to aid their mission. The defensive contribution that Patrick Beverly can bring to the floor can be significant as well.

Placing your Los Angeles Lakers bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Los Angeles Lakers Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Los Angeles Lakers Point Spread line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Los Angeles Lakers -2

San Antonio Spurs +2

In this case, the line indicates that the Los Angeles Lakers are the favorite to win by a margin of more than two points against the San Antonio Spurs. On the other side, the San Antonio Spurs are the underdog and can lose by less than a two-point margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Lakers point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -2 point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Spurs to lose by less than 2 points to cover the spread.

· Lakers win by three or more points: Lakers bettors win

· Lakers win by precisely 2 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Lakers win by one point: Spurs bettors win

· Spurs win the game: Spurs bettors win

Los Angeles Lakers Moneylines

The Los Angeles Lakers Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of a Los Angeles Lakers Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

Los Angeles Lakers -120

San Antonio Spurs +110

Using this example, the Los Angeles Lakers Moneyline would result as follows:

· Lakers Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Los Angeles Lakers -120, you would need to risk $120.

· Spurs Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the San Antonio Spurs +110, you would receive $110 if Portland wins the game.

Lakers Moneylines and Lakers point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Los Angeles Lakers Over/Under Totals

The Lakers Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Los Angeles Lakers Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Los Angeles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs

Total: 231.5

Over odds: -110

Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Los Angeles Lakers Parlays

Los Angeles Lakers Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Los Angeles Lakers Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Lakers parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the Los Angeles Lakers Point Spread of -2 and the Over of 231.5. We can add one more play to the Lakers parlay, like the Oklahoma City Thunder -2.5 against the Houston Rockets, to make a 3-team Lakers Parlay.

Lakers Spread: -2 -110

Lakers Totals: Over 231.5 -110

Thunder Spread: -2.5 -110

This 3-team Lakers Parlay would compound payout odds of +595, well above 5x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $100 would earn you a payout of 595.75, with these possible outcomes:

· Lakers Point Spread covers, Lakers over/under covers, and the other line in the parlay covers, so all bets cover: Win $595.75

· Lakers Point Spread pushes, Lakers over/under covers, and the other line in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Lakers 2-team parlay: Win $264.46

· Lakers Point Spread covers, Lakers over/under doesn't cover, and the other line in the parlay covers. Loss: -$100

· Lakers Point Spread covers, Lakers over/under covers, and the other line in the parlay fails to cover. Loss: -$100

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Los Angeles Lakers Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Lakers teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Los Angeles Lakers Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

7 points Teaser for 3 Teams

9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Lakers Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 3-team 7-point Lakers teaser would be as follows:

Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 7 points in your favor)

Lakers Spread: -2 to +5

Lakers Totals: Over 231.5 to 224.5

Thunder Spread: -2.5 +4.5

In the hypothetical case of the Lakers losing the game 113-116 (+3/223), the Lakers odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 3-team 7-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +5 point spread, and the Over 224.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

Here are some of the most popular Lakers Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:

Los Angeles Lakers Regular Season Win Totals: 52.5

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win the Pacific Division: +10000

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win the Western Conference: +3000

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win NBA Championship: +5000

Los Angeles Lakers Odds To Win the Pacific Division

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win the Pacific Division: +10000

The Lakers sit at the bottom of the list regarding odds of winning their division, with the Phoenix Suns as absolute favorites, closely followed by the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. These odds can look a bit too high for a team with a star-ridden squad like the Lakers, but the Pacific division is one of the most competitive ones, and regularity in the regular season will be the key.

Los Angeles Lakers Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win the Western Conference: +3000

As you probably noticed, the odds of winning the division are higher than the ones for the conference. This is where things reset, regularity is less consequential, and the star power and experience play a more important role, so the Los Angeles Lakers sit in the tenth place in the list, trailing the favorites list that includes the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns as favorites, and one good notch under the challenger's group that includes the Grizzlies, Mavericks, Nuggets, and Pelicans.

Los Angeles Lakers Odds To NBA Championship

Los Angeles Lakers odds to win NBA Championship: +5000

The Los Angeles Lakers sit in the middle of the table regarding the odds of winning the championship. The Celtics, Warriors, Bucks, and Suns are favorites. Still, when you have a potent lineup that includes stars like Lebron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davies, there is no doubt that they can compete in a one-on-one series and make a long postseason run.

Los Angeles Lakers 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the 75th season for the Los Angeles Lakers as a franchise and their 62nd in Los Angeles. They came into the season intending to improve on the previous season's record of 42-30 and repeat a trip to the playoffs. With incorporations like Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers were starting to be considered favorites.

The Lakers remained steady around a .500 record for most of the season. Still, despite LeBron James having his best per-game average since 2006, the Lakers underperformed, with factors like injuries and an aging roster. Some coaching mismanagement led them to a decline in the last part of the season, finishing with a 33-49 record, which made this the last year of coach Frank Vogel with the team. Ironically, four Lakers players, James, Davis, Westbrook, and Anthony, were selected to the "NBA 75" this season, a commemorative assembly for the 75th Anniversary of the League, being the team with the most players.
