The Memphis Grizzlies are a professional NBA basketball team based in Memphis, Tennessee. The Grizzlies compete in the NBA as a Western Conference, Southwest Division member, being the only major sports team in the city. The Grizzlies were founded as an expansion team in 1995 in Vancouver, Canada, as the Vancouver Grizzlies, alongside the Toronto Raptors, in an effort to expand into Canada. They relocated to Memphis in 2001.
They host their home games at the FedEx Forum since its opening in 2004. This indoor multi-purpose venue is located in Downtown Memphis, named after the Memphis-based transportation company FedEx, and it's also home to the University of Memphis' Memphis Tigers of the NCAA.
The Grizzlies opened their first game in Vancouver in 1995 as one of the two expansion teams from Canada to join the NBA that year, along with the Toronto Raptors. As with many expansion teams, their initial years were a struggle, winning less than 20 games in their first four seasons and finishing last in their division in five of six years in Vancouver. Without the economic muscle to turn things around and low attendance numbers, the owners sought to move the franchise to a new market, for which they selected Memphis in 2001.
In their first year as the Memphis Grizzlies, they appointed basketball icon Jerry West as general manager and drafted Rookie of the Year Spaniard Pau Gasol, who would become their first all-star player. They quickly turned things around, delivering a 50-32 record in the 2003–04 season, their first winning season as a franchise with a 22-win improvement from the previous season, while earning their first postseason appearance. The Grizzlies went three successive seasons as a winning team, losing in the first round on all occasions. Their successful run was short-lived with the departures of West and Gasol, falling to last place finishes once again.
After a rebuilding period, and guided by coach Lionel Hollins and Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph on the court, the Grizzlies returned to the playoffs in 2011, upsetting top-seed San Antonio Spurs in the first round for their first series victory. They made the 2012 playoffs again, losing to the Clippers in the first round. In 2013, adding Marc Gasol, Pau's brother, to this young defensive-minded squad, advancing to the conference finals for the first time, losing to the Spurs. Memphis continued to qualify for the playoffs in the following years, but results dwindled with an aging roster. In both 2016 and 2017, they were defeated by the Spurs in the first round. They ended up using a record of 28 players due to rampant injuries in the 2017 season. These issues continued, and an injury-filled squad ended last in their division for the 2017–18 season with a division-worst 22–60 record.
Their latest reconstruction is undertaken by coach Taylor Jenkins, former assistant in the Milwaukee Bucks, who joined the Grizzlies for the 2019-2020 season. The Grizzlies drafted Rookie of the Year Ja Morant in the 2019 NBA draft, building a powerful roster with a young core that includes Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr., bringing success back to Memphis, by posting two successive winning seasons and winning the division with a 56-26 record in the 2021-22, with Morant winning the NBA Most Improved Player Award.

Memphis Grizzlies Spreads
Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Memphis Grizzlies Point Spread line:
Team Points Spread Odds
Memphis Grizzlies -9
Washington Wizards +9
In this case, the line indicates that the Memphis Grizzlies are the favorite to win by a margin of more than nine points against the Washington Wizards. On the other side, the Wizards are the underdog and can lose by less than a nine-point margin.
A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.
People betting on the Grizzlies point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -9 point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Wizards to lose by less than 9 points to cover the spread.
· Grizzlies win by ten or more points: Grizzlies bettors win
· Grizzlies win by precisely 9 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded
· Grizzlies win by eight points or less: Wizards bettors win
· Wizards win the game: Wizards bettors win
Memphis Grizzlies Moneylines
The Memphis Grizzlies Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.
This is an example of a Memphis Grizzlies Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Team Moneyline
Memphis Grizzlies -385
Washington Wizards +315
Using this example, the Memphis Grizzlies Moneyline would result as follows:
· Grizzlies Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Memphis Grizzlies -385, you would need to risk $385.
· Wizards Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Jazz +315, you would receive $315 if Washington wins the game.
Grizzlies Moneylines and Grizzlies point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.
Memphis Grizzlies Over/Under Totals
The Grizzlies Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Memphis Grizzlies Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Washington Wizards
Total: 224.5
Over odds: -110
Under odds: -110
For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.
Memphis Grizzlies Parlays
Memphis Grizzlies Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.
You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Memphis Grizzlies Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Grizzlies parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.
For example, we can combine the Memphis Grizzlies Point Spread of -9 and the Under of 224.5. We can add other plays to the Grizzlies parlay, like the Cleveland Cavaliers -3.5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Over 209.5, And the Milwaukee Bucks -5.5 against the New York Knicks and the Over 227.5, to make a 6-team Grizzlies Parlay.
Grizzlies Spread: -9 -110
Grizzlies Totals: Under 224.5 -110
Cavaliers Spread: -3.5 -110
Grizzlies Totals: Over 209.5 -110
76ers Bucks: -5.5 -110
76ers Totals: Over 227.5 -110
This 6-team Grizzlies Parlay would compound payout odds of +4741.27, well above 40x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $25 would earn you a payout of $1185.32, with these possible outcomes:
· Grizzlies Point Spread covers, Grizzlies over/under covers, and the other four lines in the parlay cover, so all bets cover: Win $1185.32
· Grizzlies Point Spread pushes, Grizzlies over/under covers, and the other four lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Grizzlies 5-team parlay: Win $608.98
· Grizzlies Point Spread covers, Grizzlies over/under doesn't cover, and the other four lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$25
· Grizzlies Point Spread covers, Grizzlies over/under covers, and any of the other four lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$25
Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Memphis Grizzlies Teasers
A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Grizzlies teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.
Memphis Grizzlies Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:
4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
7 points Teaser for 3 Teams
9 points Teaser for 4 Teams
One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.
Grizzlies Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.
Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 6-team 4-point Grizzlies teaser would be as follows:
Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 4 points in your favor)
Grizzlies Spread: -9 to -5
Grizzlies Totals: Under 224.5 to 228.5
Cavaliers Spread: -3.5 to +0.5
Grizzlies Totals: Over 209.5 to 205.5
76ers Bucks: -5.5 to -1.5
76ers Totals: Over 227.5 to 223.5
In the hypothetical case of the Grizzlies winning the game 116-110 (-6/226), the Grizzlies odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 6-team 4-point Teaser, as they would cover the new -5 point spread, and the Under 228.5 points.
Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

Memphis Grizzlies Regular Season Win Totals: 41.5
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win the Southwest Division: -105
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win the Western Conference: +800
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win NBA Championship: +800
Memphis Grizzlies Odds To Win the Southwest Division
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win the Southwest Division: -105
The Memphis Grizzlies are the out-and-out favorites to win their division. They sit slightly comfortably of potential challengers, the Dallas Mavericks and the New Orleans Pelicans, and far from divisional underdog, the San Antonio Spurs. Ja Morant is becoming the superstar that guides the Grizzlies to a dominant season over their divisional compatriots.
Memphis Grizzlies Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win the Western Conference: +800
The Grizzlies sit in the top 5 of the odds of winning the conference, only slightly behind the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and Denver Nuggets, and slightly ahead of the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans. Rarely do we witness young, inexperienced teams completely dominate the NBA, but the Memphis Grizzlies did just that during the NBA season of 2021–2022, and there is no indication of this young group letting up the foot from the gas.
Memphis Grizzlies Odds To NBA Championship
Memphis Grizzlies odds to win NBA Championship: +800
The Memphis Grizzlies are listed among the group of challengers to win the championship, a notch behind the probable powerhouses for this season, the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns. Ja Morant has brought the Memphis Grizzlies to a prime situation to be a contender for their first NBA title, but their youth and lack of experience can play against a long playoff run.
Memphis Grizzlies 2021-2022 Season Recap
The 2021–22 was the 27th season for the Memphis Grizzlies as a franchise and their 21st in Tennessee. They start the season after obtaining a positive 38-34 record and qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2017 after beating the Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament.
The Grizzlies were flat-out dominant during the 2021-22 regular season, which is very rare to see with a young inexperienced team. This team tied their franchise record with a 56-26, giving new life to an organization that struggled to stay relevant, turning them into a top-five team on both offense and defense. Winning their division and clinching the second seed, they beat the Timberwolves in the first round to fall against the Warriors in the conference semifinals.
