The Minnesota Timberwolves are a professional NBA basketball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves compete in the NBA as a Western Conference, Northwest Division member. They were founded in 1987 as an expansion team with the Charlotte Hornets, the Miami Heat, and the Orlando Magic to join the league for the 1989-1990 season. This meant the return of the NBA to Minnesota since the Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles in 1960.

They host their home games at the Target Center since 1990. This multi-purpose indoor venue is located in Central Minneapolis, across from Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins from the MLB. It is also home to the Timberwolves' sister team, the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA.

Their formation immediately drew significant support from the fans, with over one million attending their home games for their inaugural season despite their less-than-impressive 22-60 season. However, as with most expansion teams, they had a difficult start, with under 30 wins in every one of their first seven seasons and six coaching changes. These difficulties made their owners seek to sell the franchise in 1994, with a potential relocation in mind, until local communications magnate Glen Taylor intervened to buy the team and keep it in the Twin Cities. He would also become an owner of the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA.

The very next year, new VP and former Celtics star Kevin McHale, Minnesota native, hired coach Philip Flip Saunders and drafted forward Kevin Garnett out of high school. Garnett immediately took the Timberwolves to the first winning season in 1996 and the first playoff berth in 1997, but without being able to pass the first round on any of Minnesota's seven playoff appearances until 2003. Then the Timberwolves incorporated veteran guards Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell, helping them win their first division title and first playoff series, going through to the conference finals before being defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers.

After this successful stint, they missed the playoffs in 2005 and decided to trade Garnett in 2007 to kick off a rebuilding period. McHale left shortly after, and the management started building a team around All-Star forward Kevin Love, but they missed the playoffs again. Love was traded that off-season, and the team finished with a record of 16-66, the worst in the history of the NBA. After ten coaching changes in ten years, they returned in 2017 with a winning season, built around a young core that featured Karl-Anthony and veteran All-Star Jimmy Butler, who brought the team back to the playoffs after a fourteen-year drought. Locker room clashes prompted Butler to be traded out, with Minnesota ending again in last place and posting three losing seasons.

The 2021 season brought a whole overhaul, starting with a change of ownership, new executives in the back office, and at the bench, with Chris Finch, former assistant coach at the Toronto Raptors, taking the helm of the latest overhaul.

How to Bet on the Minnesota Timberwolves

BetPhoenix.ag not only provides you with the best Minnesota Timberwolves Vegas odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this guide, to help our customers increase their chances of winning and introduce you to all the many moneymaking options available when wagering on the NBA, from the preseason through the NBA Finals.

Let the Timberwolves' experimental season begin. New acquisition Rudy Gobert coupled with Karl-Anthony Towns, both other 7ft, in an unusual push for tall-ball, giving them a center duo that finished third and fourth in last season's All-Star balloting working together. This makes the Timberwolves a reasonable contender for a good playoff run in the near future. For a team that feels like they missed a great opportunity against Memphis last playoff, their aspirations are considerably higher this season.

Placing your Minnesota Timberwolves bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Minnesota Timberwolves Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Minnesota Timberwolves Point Spread line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Minnesota Timberwolves -6

Charlotte Hornets +6

In this case, the line indicates that the Minnesota Timberwolves are the favorite to win by a margin of more than six points against the Charlotte Hornets. On the other side, the Hornets are the underdog and can lose by less than a six-point margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Timberwolves point spreads expect them to win by a margin over a -6 point spread, while those betting on the underdog expect the Hornets to lose by less than 6 points to cover the spread.

· Timberwolves win by seven or more points: Timberwolves bettors win

· Timberwolves win by precisely 6 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Timberwolves win by five points or less: Hornets bettors win

· Hornets win the game: Hornets bettors win

Minnesota Timberwolves Moneylines

The Minnesota Timberwolves Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of a Minnesota Timberwolves Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

Minnesota Timberwolves -250

Charlotte Hornets +200

Using this example, the Minnesota Timberwolves Moneyline would result as follows:

· Timberwolves Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves -250, you would need to risk $250.

· Hornets Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Pistons +200, you would receive $200 if Charlotte wins the game.

Timberwolves Moneylines and Timberwolves point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Minnesota Timberwolves Over/Under Totals

The Timberwolves Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a Minnesota Timberwolves Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Charlotte Hornets

Total: 226.5

Over odds: -110

Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Minnesota Timberwolves Parlays

Minnesota Timberwolves Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your Minnesota Timberwolves Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Timberwolves parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the Minnesota Timberwolves Point Spread of -6 and the Under of 226.5. We can add other play to the Timberwolves parlay, like the Boston Celtics -5.5 against the Dallas Mavericks, to make a 3-team Timberwolves Parlay.

Timberwolves Spread: -6 -110

Timberwolves Totals: Under 226.5 -110

Celtics Spread: -5.5 -110

This 3-team Timberwolves Parlay would compound payout odds of +595, well above 5x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $100 would earn you a payout of $595.79, with these possible outcomes:

· Timberwolves Point Spread covers, Timberwolves over/under covers, and the Celtics Spread covers, so all bets cover: Win $595.79

· Timberwolves Point Spread pushes, Timberwolves over/under covers, and the Celtics Spread covers. The push is canceled, and it becomes a Timberwolves 2-team parlay: Win $264.46

· Timberwolves Point Spread covers, Timberwolves over/under doesn't cover, and the Celtics Spread covers. Loss: -$100

· Timberwolves Point Spread covers, Timberwolves over/under covers, and the Celtics Spread doesn't cover. Loss: -$100

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Minnesota Timberwolves Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Timberwolves teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Minnesota Timberwolves Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

7 points Teaser for 3 Teams

9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Timberwolves Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 3-team 7-point Timberwolves teaser would be as follows:

Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 7 points in your favor)

Timberwolves Spread: -6 down to +1

Timberwolves Totals: Under 226.5 up to 233.5

Celtics Spread: -5.5 down to +1.5

In the hypothetical case of the Timberwolves winning the game 117-114 (+3/231), the Timberwolves odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 3-team 7-point Teaser, as they would cover the new +1 point spread, and the Under 233.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

Here are some of the most popular Timberwolves Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:

Minnesota Timberwolves Regular Season Win Totals: 35.5

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win the Northwest Division: +500

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win the Western Conference: +700

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win NBA Championship: +3500

Minnesota Timberwolves Odds To Win the Northwest Division

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win the Northwest Division: +500

The Minnesota Timberwolves sits in the challengers' group behind the Denver Nuggets as the sole favorite. These challengers, the Portland Trailblazers, the Utah Jazz, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, all sit with similar odds, not far behind. Irrespective of the slight difference, this division will likely be decided at the very end of the season. This division has been decided by a minimal difference in the last seasons.

Minnesota Timberwolves Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win the Western Conference: +1850

Minnesota sits in the second step of the ladder in the odds of winning the conference list, behind the big favorites, like the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans, all showing under +1000. With a solid young core in Karl Anthony-Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D'Angelo Russell, this franchise is ready to fulfill its potential.

Minnesota Timberwolves Odds To NBA Championship

Minnesota Timberwolves odds to win NBA Championship: +3500

The Timberwolves are listed in the group of challengers to win the championship, behind this year's absolute favorites, which include the Celtics, the Warriors, the Clippers, the Bucks, and the Suns. Being one of the youngest squads in the league, you would assume they would be losing a lot of games. That's not the case with the Timberwolves. They will be likely in the playoffs, and while they lack experience, they look like a group that can make a good run for the championship, if not this season, very soon.

Minnesota Timberwolves 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the 33rd season for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. They began the season after a complete overhaul in hopes of improving on the previous 23-49 record, where they ended fourth in the division and 13th in the conference, missing the playoffs for the third season straight. With that in mind, they completed numerous squad changes and appointed a new head coach, Chris Finch, to undertake this reconstruction mission.

The Minnesota Timberwolves played an exciting brand of basketball this season that produced a ton of highlights, thunderous cheers from the Target Center crowd, and, most importantly, a genuine sense of hope that this fan base has been missing ever since Garnett was traded to the Boston Celtics back in 2007.

They accomplished a winning season, their first since 2018, with a 46-36 record, ending third in the division, and seventh in the conference, clinching a playoff spot, where they were lost in the first round to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Timberwolves improved drastically, despite the young age of the squad. But Finch did a great job putting together a cohesive team, with Town and Edwards delivering along with defensive ace Beverley. They even got two relevant victories against the Grizzlies before being defeated in six games in the first round, making the turnaround for a franchise struggling to get 20 wins in the previous three seasons all that more impressive.
