The San Antonio Spurs are a professional NBA basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas. They compete in the NBA as a Western Conference, Southwest Division member. The Spurs were founded in 1967 as the Dallas Chaparrals, one of the eleven inaugural teams of the ABA. They moved to San Antonio in 1973, renaming the franchise to the San Antonio Spurs, and joined the NBA in 1976 as a result of the leagues' merger.

They host their home games at the AT&T Center, a multi-purpose venue located in the East Side Neighborhood of Downtown San Antonio, next to the Freeman Coliseum. Both venues combine to host the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.

Their start as the Dallas Chaparrals of the ABA was moderately successful, posting winning seasons three years in a row. Still, the team suffered disinterest and poor attendance in Dallas, leading them to attempt to draw a wider audience by renaming to the Texas Chaparrals and scheduling some games in Fort Worth and Lubbock in an unsuccessful effort to mend their finances. All this led to the team being sold in 1973 to a business group based in San Antonio, who immediately relocated the franchise and renamed them the San Antonio Spurs.

With future Hall of Famer George "the Iceman" Gervin joining the franchise in 1973, the Spurs saw their first star rise. Gervin would be the key piece to establish the franchise as a consistent contender through the 1970s and 1980s. San Antonio joined the NBA as one of the four teams absorbed in the league's merger. Defying all expectations, the Spurs posted straight winning seasons, standing up to the best NBA teams and earning five division titles in their first seven seasons in the league. The Spurs continually made the postseason, but with the conference finals as their unbeatable hurdle.

With Gervin leaving the team in 1985, the Spurs suffered four straight losing seasons. This slump ended with the arrival of superstar David "the Admiral" Robinson in 1989. Robinson was responsible for an improvement that translated in 35 more wins, from a 24-61 record in the 1988-89 to a 56-26 record in the 1989-90 season, with the team qualifying for the playoffs in every one of his first seven years with the Spurs, but not being able to pass the conference finals. The injury-plagued 1996-97 season saw them drop to a 20–62 record, but they struck gold with the first pick in the draft bringing Tim Duncan to San Antonio. Robinson and Duncan formed a powerful duo, nicknamed the "Twin Towers," which teamed up to guide the team to their first two NBA championship, in 1999 and in 2003, which was Robinson's retiring season with the team, allowing him to end his memorable career on the top.

Under coach Gregg Popovich, the Spurs continued to be dominant, with a combination of veterans and developing young talent. The team counted on the powerful trio formed by Duncan with Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker for a run into two more championships in 2005 and 2007. The Spurs reached two more NBA finals in 2012–13, where the Spurs lost to the Miami Heat, and in 2013-2014 where they avenged the Heat winning their fifth title. San Antonio set the franchise record for most wins per season with 67 and tied the record for most wins at home in a season with 40. They also established the all-time mark with eighteen consecutive 50+ wins seasons in 2017. The latest seasons have seen the Spurs struggle with what will likely be the farewell task for legendary coach Popovich.

How to Bet on the San Antonio Spurs

BetPhoenix.ag not only provides you with the best San Antonio Spurs Vegas odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this guide, to help our customers increase their chances of winning and introduce you to all the many moneymaking options available when wagering on the NBA, from the preseason through the NBA Finals.

The Spurs franchise that has grown accustomed to competing for championships is now focused on the growth and development of a new squad and has its eyes more on the Draft Lottery than on any possibility of contention. The Spurs will probably miss the postseason for the fourth straight year, something they have never experienced in their history. They will need patience for this young roster to continue developing. Players like Tre Jones, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Joshua Primo are the key to this reconstruction, together with rookies Jeremi Sochan, Malaki Branham, and Blake Wesley. Their current target is getting the best draft pick possible.

Placing your San Antonio Spurs bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

San Antonio Spurs Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a San Antonio Spurs Point Spread line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Milwaukee Bucks -3

San Antonio Spurs +3

In this case, the line indicates that the Milwaukee Bucks are the favorite to win by a margin of more than three points against the San Antonio Spurs. On the other side, the Spurs are the underdog and can lose by less than a three-point margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Spurs point spreads expect them to lose by a margin under 3 points, while those betting on the underdog expect the Spurs to win by more than 3 points in order to cover the spread.

· Bucks win by four or more points: Bucks bettors win

· Bucks win by precisely 3 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Bucks win by two points or less: Spurs bettors win

· Spurs win the game: Spurs bettors win

San Antonio Spurs Moneylines

The San Antonio Spurs Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of a San Antonio Spurs Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

Milwaukee Bucks -170

San Antonio Spurs +145

Using this example, the San Antonio Spurs Moneyline would result as follows:

· Spurs Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Spurs +145, you would receive $145 if San Antonio wins the game.

· Bucks Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Milwaukee Bucks -170, you would need to risk $170.

Spurs Moneylines and Spurs point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

San Antonio Spurs Over/Under Totals

The Spurs Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of a San Antonio Spurs Totals line as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

San Antonio Spurs vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Total: 219.5

Over odds: -110

Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

San Antonio Spurs Parlays

San Antonio Spurs Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. BetPhoenix will increase your San Antonio Spurs Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Spurs parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the San Antonio Spurs Point Spread of +3 and the Over of 219.5. We can add other plays to the Spurs parlay, like the Cleveland Cavaliers -3.5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Under 209.5, to make a 4-team Spurs Parlay.

Spurs Spread: +3 -110

Spurs Totals: Over 219.5 -110

Cavaliers Spread: -3.5 -110

Cavaliers Totals: Under 209.5 -110

This 4-team Spurs Parlay would compound payout odds of +1228, well above 10x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $20 would earn you a payout of $245.67, with these possible outcomes:

· Spurs Point Spread covers, Spurs over/under covers, and the other lines in the parlay also cover, so all bets cover: Win $245.67

· Spurs Point Spread pushes, Spurs over/under covers, and the other lines in the parlay cover. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 3-team Spurs parlay: Win $119.16

· Spurs Point Spread covers, Spurs over/under doesn't cover, and the other lines in the parlay cover. Loss: -$20

· Spurs Point Spread covers, Spurs over/under covers, and the other lines in the parlay fail to cover. Loss: -$20

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

San Antonio Spurs Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with Spurs teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

San Antonio Spurs Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams

7 points Teaser for 3 Teams

9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Spurs Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but that comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same picks of the parlay we made previously in a 4-team 5-point Spurs teaser would be as follows:

Original Lines vs. Teased lines (with 5 points in your favor)

Spurs Spread: +3 up to +8

Spurs Totals: Over 219.5 down to 214.5

Cavaliers Spread: -3.5 down to +1.5

Cavaliers Totals: Under 209.5 up to 214.5

In the hypothetical case of the Spurs losing the game 111-106 (+5/217), the Spurs odds and the Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 4-team 5-point Spurs Teaser, as they would cover the new +8 point spread and the Over 214.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

For a complete view of teaser payouts, here is your payout table for BetPhoenix:

Here are some of the most popular Spurs Futures Odds bets you can make before and throughout the regular season. Their current lines are:

San Antonio Spurs Regular Season Win Totals: 28.5

San Antonio Spurs odds to win the Southwest Division: +9500

San Antonio Spurs odds to win the Western Conference: +950

San Antonio Spurs odds to win NBA Championship: +50000

San Antonio Spurs Odds To Win the Southwest Division

San Antonio Spurs odds to win the Southwest Division: +9500

The San Antonio Spurs have the second-worst odds to win their division. They are well ahead of the Houston Rockets as the furthest underdog but also far behind the remaining divisional rivals, the Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, and New Orleans Pelicans. This group is in the middle of a rebuilding process, and while they are building a structurally solid block, they will need time to develop before returning to being the good old powerhouse they have been in the past.

San Antonio Spurs Odds To Win the Western Conference Championship

San Antonio Spurs odds to win the Western Conference: +25000

Again San Antonio sits in the second-worst spot in terms of odds of winning the conference, only ahead of the Houston Rockets. This roster contains several talented young players who still need to grow. They will thus lose a lot of games the following season. There will be instances in which the Spurs appear fiercely competitive, as well as occasions when they look ugly. Their reward will be a high-rank draft pick at the end of the season.

San Antonio Spurs Odds To NBA Championship

San Antonio Spurs odds to win NBA Championship: +50000

The San Antonio Spurs are rated at the bottom of the barrel to win the championship. While this Spurs team could surprise some better teams during the regular season, their chances to reach the playoffs are low, much less to make a long run for the title.

San Antonio Spurs 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the 55th season for the San Antonio Spurs as a franchise, 49th in San Antonio, and 46th in the NBA. This was the 26th season under the leadership of president and coach Gregg Popovich. This was also their first season without any member of their 2014 Championship team, with the trade of long-time point guard Patty Mills to the Brooklyn Nets.

The season went as expected given the current situation, with a 34-48 record, clinching the 10th seed in the conference by one game, which earned them a spot in the elimination round of the Play-In Tournament for the second consecutive year, where they lost to the New Orleans Pelicans, eliminating the Spurs from the playoffs for the third year in a row.
