NBA Expert Picks Christmas Week

NBA Expert Picks Christmas Week

All my NBA betting picks of teh week are on games that take place Christmas Day, this Dec. 25. As it does every year, the NBA has a great line-up on Christmas Day. Can Boston beat New York at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 25? What’s going to happen in a rematch between Golden State and Cleveland this Sunday? Will Minnesota’s youngsters take down Russell and Oklahoma City?

NBA Expert Picks Christmas Week

Boston at New York
When:  Sunday, Dec. 25 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
TV: ESPN

Analysis: At 15-12 to start the week, Boston has underperformed this season. But, the last time that the Celtics battled the New York Knicks, they beat them 115 to 87. It was a terrific showing by the Celtics who blasted the Knicks by shooting 40.7% from 3 and holding NYK to only 26% from three.

But the venues are reversed on Christmas Day. New York has a gone 9-4 against the spread at home this season. The Knicks should get Derrick Rose back for Sunday. They also start a 3-game home stand after playing 3 straight on the road this week.

Pick: New York

Golden State at Cleveland
When:  Sunday, Dec. 25 at 2:30 pm ET
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
TV: ABC

Analysis: Golden State heads to Cleveland to battle the Cavaliers in a game that could go a long way in determining the favorite for the NBA Championship come spring. Golden State has a 24-4 record to start the week. Cleveland has a 19-6 record to start the week.

It’s hard to see how Golden State has any shot of beating the Cavs straight up or covering the spread in this game on Sunday. The Warriors are loaded with three-point shooters while the Cavs proved in last season’s NBA Finals that they have what it takes to beat Golden State.

Then again, the Warriors should be fired up while the Cavs may not show their best. Cleveland is mentally tough enough to lose to the Warriors on Christmas Day while still beating the in a 7-game series come playoff time.

I think Golden State is the play on both the moneyline and the spread.

Pick: Golden State

Minnesota at Oklahoma City
When:  Sunday, Dec. 25 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Chesapeake Arena, Oklahoma City, OK
TV: ESPN

Analysis: My gut tells me that Minnesota just doesn’t match up well with Oklahoma City. The Thunder dominated the T’Wolves 112 to 92 the last time that they played them. The game was on Nov. 6.

OKC guard Victor Oladipo is out indefinitely due to a wrist injury. But guard Anthony Morrow is more than capable of playing with Russell Westbrook. OKC’s frontline of Domantas Sabonis, Steve Adams and Andre Roberson is too strong for Minnesota’s frontline even though T’Wolves’ center Karl Anthony-Townes will be the best player on the floor after Westbrook.

This isn’t a good match up for Minnesota. OKC should win easily.

Pick: Oklahoma City
