NBA Picks of the Week

With the NBA season in full swing, teams are still trying to reach mid-season form and that means picking winning NBA bets could be tricky, but I am here to take the guess work out of your winning NBA betting picks. Let's get started.

NBA Picks of the Week

Will it be the Lakers or Sacramento who proves best this Thursday in a battle between 2 up and coming Western Conference squads? How will Oklahoma City play against the Pacific Division leading Clippers on Friday? How will Denver play when they host Detroit on Saturday, Nov. 12?

L.A. Lakers at Sacramento

  • When:  Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 pm ET
  • Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, CA
  • TV: TNT

Analysis: Both L.A. and Sacramento have proven to be better this season than last season. The Lakers are showing that they can play with most of the other teams in the Pacific Division. The Clippers at 5-1 and Golden State at 4-2 to start the season are the 2 best teams in the division.

But L.A. is a close 4-3. The Lakers only need to finish at .500 for this to be a nice step up from where they were last season. If the Lakers finish anywhere ahead of that, it will be considered a successful season.

L.A. has a chance to add a win to their resume on Thursday night. Under the deft hand of new head coach Luke Walton, L.A. is averaging 110 points per game. They are the top ranked team in the NBA in regards to three-point defense. Both of those things should carry the Lakers past Sacramento in this battle.

Pick: L.A. Lakers

L.A. Clippers at Oklahoma City

  • When:  Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 pm ET
  • Where: Chesapeake Arena, Oklahoma City, OK
  • TV: NBA TV

Analysis: On Friday, 2 of the best teams in the Western Conference duke it out when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the L.A. Clippers. I thought that the Clippers’ window for a championship was over.

Not so. LAC has shown the ability to play lock down defense this season. The Clippers are ranked first in points allowed per game at 90.7. They are ranked second in field goal percentage allowed per game at 41%.

Guard Raymond Felton allows Doc Rivers to give Chris Paul plenty of rest during games. A fresh Paul in the fourth quarter has been deadly to Clipper opponents. That’s one of the reasons why I like LAC in this battle against OKC. The Thunder rely way too much on Russell Westbrook.

It should cost OKC a win in this game.

Pick: Clippers

Detroit at Denver

  • When:  Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9:00 pm ET
  • Where: Pepsi Center, Denver, CO
  • TV: NBA TV

Analysis: On the surface, this should be a hard game to handicap. But it isn’t. Denver’s defense allows 105.2 points per game. Detroit’s defense allows 93 points per game. Denver’s defense allows close to 45% from the field. Detroit’s defense allows 41% from the field.

Although Denver could make things interesting, it’s hard to look past the Pistons in this game. Detroit almost assuredly will be a slight dog since they battle the Clippers, Phoenix and San Antonio on the road this week before taking on Denver.

That’s good news. Even though Detroit will be tired, they almost assuredly will beat Denver to the basket for rebounds. Center Andre Drummond is too good of a player for anybody on Denver’s squad to handle. Detroit should rock the Nuggets on Saturday, Nov. 12.
