Are You Betting on the Cavaliers?

The Cavaliers made sure to quell doubts that they’re one of the teams that are going to be in the 2017 NBA Finals. Cleveland demolished the Celtics in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series by a score of 117-104.

As certain as death, LeBron James was the harbinger of what Boston can expect in the second game. James finished scoring 38 points on 14 of 24 shooting from the field, giving a performance that left his defenders in the dust.

Since the NBA Playoffs started, King LeBron stepped on the accelerator and is playing some of the best basketball of his career. To date he’s averaging 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists per game in the postseason. He’s also shooting above 55 percent and nobody seems to be able to stop him.

Other notable players include Kevin Love, who also played well in Game 1 scoring 32 points including six from downtown. Tristan Thompson contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds of his own. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving only put up 11 points, but overall played well.

Are You Betting on the Celtics?

Whatever hopes Kelly Olynyk gave after scoring 26 points in his previous to last game went up in smoke after he could only manage two points in the first game of this series. Nevertheless, it would be unfair to say that Olynyk should bear the burden of this loss as the entire team was shell shocked from James’ brutal attack.

Not to say the Celtics didn’t give it a shot, after all Isaiah Thomas scored 17 points, but overall the fight they put up is not going to be enough against this Cavaliers team.

The Celtics will need Thomas, Al Horford and, heck, everyone on the team to step up and perform flawlessly if they don’t want to find themselves heading home early. Horford only managed to score 11 points and the pair of Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder added a combined 42 points, but it’s going to take much more than that to hold off Cleveland.

Game 3 is played at TD Garden where Boston might get a boost from their home crowd, but the Celtics are only 1-5 SU in its last 6 games when playing at home against Cleveland.

Betting Trends

  • Cleveland is 4-0-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Cleveland is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Boston is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games
  • Boston is 8-4 SU in its last 12 games

Pick and Prediction: Don’t expect much to change in this game. Barring a curse from the basketball gods, James will be at his best and lead the Cavaliers to another runaway game. Cleveland wins 118-102.
