Why bet on the Bears?
Though the Bears lost to Jacksonville on Sunday, there are a couple of things you should consider that are positive. Firstly, quarterback Brian Hoyer had a great performance passing for 302 yards on 30 of 49 completed passes. Secondly, the Bears’ passing game is also turning out to be a great weapon that is getting better game by game.
With the likes wide receiver Cameron Meredith in its ranks, the Bears passing attack can take them far into the season; Meredith racked up 113 receiving yards on 11 catches against the Jaguars after having recorded a 130+ yard performance a week earlier against the Colts.
Along with Alshon Jeffery, the Hoyer-Meredith combination can definitely exploit the Packers’ weak pass defense and do heavy damage this Thursday.
Why bet on the Packers?
Having had a bye week probably sat well with the Packers to get over their loss to the Dallas Cowboys, 30-16, in week 6. Though Green Bay had a productive day against the Cowboys, ending up with 372 total yards, they weren’t able to convert while in the red zone. Aaron Rodgers put up 294 passing yards but only scored once and threw one interception.
The Packers’ running game was also ineffective; running back Eddie Lacy only managed to scrounge up 65 rushing yards, though his numbers could improve against the Bears’ somewhat soft rushing defense.
To beat the Bears, Green Bay will have to figure out a way to stop their passing game. Chicago will likely limit themselves to mainly a pass attack which has been successful for them and stay away from the ground game because of Green Bay’s formidable rushing defense.
