Pro Football Hall of Fame Game: New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills

NFL Hall of Fame Game 2014

The 2014 NFL preseason will kick off on Sunday, August 3, with the annual Pro Football Hall Of Fame Game. The annual game, which is played after the Hall of Fame ceremony is over, will be between the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills, two teams that have two former players Michael Strahan and Andre Reed being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

The Giants are coming off a disappointing 2013 season, which they finished 7-9, and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row, after winning the Super Bowl in 2011. Eli Manning had one of his worst seasons as a pro last year, completing only 57% of his passes, while leading the league in interceptions thrown, with 27.

The team hired Bob McAdoo as their new offensive coordinator, after former coordinator Kevin Gilbride announced his retirement at the end of last season, and the team is hoping he can help improve one of the worst offenses in the league last year.

The Giants struggled with injuries at the running back position last year with starter David Wilson suffering a neck injury in week 5 that cost him the rest of the season, and his backup Andre Brown missing eight games due to injuries. The team addressed their lack of depth at the position by signing free agent Rashad Jennings from the raiders in the offseason.

The Bills havent made the playoffs in 14 years, and have had only one winning season in that span, but the team seems to be heading in the right direction, and have made some moves in recent years to improve their team.

They signed Pro Bowl defensive end Mario Williams, drafted quarterback E.J. Manuel, running back C.J. Spiller, and wide receiver Sammy Watkins in recent years, and are hoping that the core of young players help them to become a playoff team again.

Offensively, the Bills have one of the most talented units, and can make some noise if they can stay healthy. They have two of the best running backs in the league in Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, which will open up the passing game for E.J. Manuel to find his receivers.

Defensively, the Bills were a top 10 team when it came to yards allowed per game, and pass defense, but their run defense wasnt very good, and they were one of the worst run defending teams in the league. They lost Pro Bowl safety Jairus Webb to the New Orleans Saints in free agency, but have added Corey Graham to fill the position, and drafted Ross Crockrell to add some depth to their secondary. The Bills also signed former New England Patriot Brandon Spikes to help them improve their woeful run defense.

Personal Pick: It is a preseason game, with the starters only seeing limited action, the Bills will most likely leave their starters in longer than the Giants, and will win the game.
