UFC 239: Jones vs. Santos Odds, Fight Preview and Prediction

Jon “Bones” Jones steps into the Octagon once more as a big favorite to win over Thiago “Marreta” Santos with the light heavyweight title on the line. Get ready for another bone-crunching night in UFC 239.

UFC 239: Jones vs. Santos Odds: Taking Jones at -600

Jones has an impressive 24-1 record, with his only loss coming versus Matt Hamill back in 2009, when he was disqualified for an illegal elbow. Jones, however, is aware of Santos’ capacity for the quick KO. Jones is a master of keeping range and distance from his rivals, picking them apart as the fight progresses.

Jones is also no stranger to facing opponents who are power punchers, already defeating the likes of Glover Teixeira and Quinton Jackson. Jon Jones also has a reach advantage over most of his opponents, and this could be a determining factor in frustrating Marreta.

Jones’ last opponent though, Anthony Smith, Santos also beat by TKO back in February. Smith is a similar fighter to Santos, and that may give Jones an idea of how to defeat him.

Santos is 21-6 overall, but since moving to light heavyweight he’s 3-0, winning each of those bouts via knockout.

Santos has also won eight of his last ten fights, and is considered a capable fighter who’s great at reading distance followed by an equally good variety of strikes. Though there are questions concerning his chin, Santos heads into this fight as the underdog without anything to prove and glory to gain.

Fight Prediction

Jon Jones is a fighting prodigy. His ability to study and figure out his opponents is downright scary as we’ve seen in all of his fights. If Santos looks to get a jump on Jones, he’ll need to become and unpredictable fighter.

 Can we expect the upset? Anything can happen, but for now Jones is the bet to take.
