South Carolina State Bulldogs vs Clemson Tigers

  • Time: Saturday, September 17, 2016 12:00 PM ET
  • Place: Memorial Stadium

Bet on the Bulldogs

Though South Carolina might be wishing to get out of the mud hole they’re in, it’s not likely they’ll be able to move even an inch considering their next opponent the mighty Clemson Tigers. The Bulldogs have already lost both of their games this season, the first by a trudging of 38-0 against UCF and the second to LA Tech 53-24.

Quarterback Caleb York did what he could in the last game and in fact finished with 137 yards and two touchdowns and might be able to have a similar performance against Clemson if he gets enough protection from his offensive line. On defense, they might be able to keep Clemson under wraps for a while (a short while), before the Tigers break loose.

Bet on the Tigers

Clemson has won both of their games this season, even while they did not convince. In the first, against Auburn they won 19-13 and in the second they defeated Troy 30-24. Regardless, Clemson is still among the favorites this year to win the national championship.

The Tigers have a competent and physical quarterback in Deshaun Watson, who lit up the Trojans with 292 passing yards and three touchdowns. And, he should be able to have a similar, or better, performance against South Carolina State because of reasons already stated above.

Betting Trends

  • South Carolina State is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games
  • South Carolina State is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games
  • South Carolina State is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games on the road
  • Clemson is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games at home
  • Clemson is 18-1 SU in its last 19 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Clemson's last 5 games at home
  • Clemson is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Clemson is 19-1 SU in its last 20 games

Game Predictions: This is going to be a blowout, expect Clemson to at least score 40 points. The line hasn’t been released yet, but whatever it is it’s going to be in the high digits.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs Ole Miss Rebels

  • Time: Saturday, September 17, 2016 3:30 PM ET
  • Place: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
  • Betting Line: Crimson Tide -11
  • Total: 54.5

Bet on the Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide is trucking along after defeating the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, 38-10, last Saturday. This moves Alabama to a 2-0 record this season and gives them plenty of momentum heading into this game against the Rebels.

Alabama’s offense is playing extremely well this year, averaging 45 points per game and led by their talented quarterback Jalen Hurts. The Crimson Tide’s star QB completed 23 of 36 passes for 287 yards and two scores without a single interception in their game against Western Kentucky. And, he’s only a freshman so we can all expect great things from him in years to come.

However, as much as Alabama’s passing game was impressive, their ground game was not. All in all, the Crimson Tide only averaged to rush for 3.2 yards per carry on Saturday and if this might not cut it against their next SEC rivals.

Bet on the Rebels

The Rebels won convincingly in their second game of the season against the Wofford Terriers last Saturday. This at least gave them some momentum after losing their first game to Florida State. Quarterback Chad Kelly took the reins in that game, leading the offense and passing for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Considering his performance against FSU, when he was picked off three times, this says much about his grit and determination.

However, the Rebels’ next opponent is nothing short of a Goliath. Ole Miss will be facing one of the best defenses in the nation, one that only has given up 216.5 total yards this year. Kelly will need to kick his passing game up a notch or two and hope to connect with Markell Pack, the Rebels’ No. 2 slot receiver who caught three passes for 46 yards against the Terriers. The Rebels have been hobbled by injuries to its players this season, to date Kendarius Webster and Eric Swinney are both out with injuries to their knees, while D.K. Metcalf is also out for the season with a broken foot. Jeremy Liggins and Derrick Jones are suspended.

This is a good match up for Ole Miss however, considering their success in recent years against the Crimson Tide having defeated them the past two years for Alabama’s only regular season loss.

Betting Trends

  • Alabama is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Alabama is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Mississippi's last 8 games when playing Alabama
  • Mississippi is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing at home against Alabama
  • Mississippi is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Alabama
  • Mississippi is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 games when playing Alabama

Game Prediction: This will be a classic gridiron battle. In the end Alabama will win, but will not cover. We’re betting on the dog at +11
