The Washington Wizards are a professional NBA basketball team based in Washington, D.C. The Wizards compete in the NBA as an Eastern Conference, Southeast Division member. They play their home games at the Capital One Arena, an indoor venue located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, DC. They share this location with the Washington Capitals of the NHL and the Georgetown University men's basketball team.

The franchise was founded in 1961 as the Chicago Packers and then the Chicago Zephyrs. They moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1963 to become the Baltimore Bullets. The team moved again in 1973, this time to the Nation'sNation's capital, changing their name to the Capital Bullets, then to the Washington Bullets, and finally to the Washington Wizards in 1997.

The Wizards have reached the NBA Finals four times, winning once in 1978. They have appeared in 28 playoffs, won their conference title four times (in 1971, 1975, 1978, and 1979), and won their division title eight times (in 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1979, and 2017). Their best record in a regular season is 60–22 in 1975. Wes Unseld is the one player in franchise history to win the MVP (in 1969) and also win the Finals MVP award (in 1978). Four different players (Walt Bellamy, Terry Dischinger, Earl Monroe, and Unseld) have earned the Rookie of the Year award while playing for the franchise.

Their latest era started in 2010, with Monumental Sports and Entertainment, a holding company used by Theodore John Leonsis, former CEO of America Online AOL, to take over the Washington Wizards, along with the Washington Capitals of the NHL and the Washington Mystic of the WNBA, as well as the arena, formerly named Verizon Center. Mr. Leonsis took a revolutionary fan-centered approach, listening and responding directly to supporters' concerns via email. The name change from Bullets to Wizards, as well as the logo and colors, were ''voted'' through these methods.

The impact on the roster was immediate as well, with point guard John Wall coming onboard as the first overall pick; all-time three-point leader Kirk Hinrich from the Chicago Bulls, forwards Kevin Seraphin and Rashard Lewis, to name a few. Regardless of this, the Wizards have not found a consistent winning form and have only had one winning season (above .500) and two first-round playoff appearances in the last five years.

The team's top player in recent seasons has been Bradley Beal. Since coming into the league in 2012, he has spent his entire career with the Wizards.

Playing in the Southeast Division, their natural enemies are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic. Still, the proximity to New York and Philadelphia has sparked different rivalries.

How to Bet on the Washington Wizards

BetPhoenix.ag not only provides you with the best Washington Wizards Vegas odds, but we also provide you with many helpful tools, like this guide, to help our customers increase their chances of winning and introduce you to all the many moneymaking options available when wagering on the NBA, from the preseason through the NBA Finals.

After starting last season as the presumptive hottest team in the league, the Washington Wizards came back down to earth, barely remained competitive, and ended 12th seed. Russell Westbrook was set to the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason to bring forward Kyle Kuzma and guard Kentavius Caldwell-Pope, plus center/forward Kristaps Porzingis, acquired at the trade deadline. This gives Washington a fresh roster, coupled with the new head coach and household name Wes Unseld Jr., which might be what the Wizards need to bring a winning mentality back to the franchise.

Placing your Washington Wizards bets on BetPhoenix thru the NBA basketball season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, especially if you put in some time and research.

Washington Wizards Spreads

Point Spreads are a margin-of-victory bet that indicates an estimated game result. This is an example of a Washington Wizards Point Spreads line:

Team Points Spread Odds

  • Washington Wizards -5
  • Philadelphia 76ers +5

In this case, the line indicates that the Washington Wizards are the favorite to win by a margin of more than five points against the Philadelphia 76ers. On the other side, the 76ers are the underdog and can lose by less than a five points margin.

A small spread of 4 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 5 or more points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

People betting on the Wizards point spreads expect them to win by a margin over than -5 point spread, while people betting on the underdog expect the Philadelphia 76ers to lose by less than 5 points to cover the spread.

· Wizards win by six or more points: Wizards bettors win

· Wizards win by precisely 5 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Wizards win by four points or less: 76ers bettors win

· 76ers win the game: 76ers bettors win

Washington Wizards Moneylines

The Washington Wizards Moneylines bet is the most straightforward option in sports betting. You simply bet on the team that you believe will win the game. There'sThere's a negative number for the favorite, or the team considered more likely to win, and there is a positive number for the underdog, or the team considered more likely to lose.

This is an example of Washington Wizards Moneyline as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Team Moneyline

  • Washington Wizards -225
  • Philadelphia 76ers +180

Using this example, the Washington Wizards Moneyline would result as follows:

· Wizards Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Wizards -225, you would need to risk $225.

· 76ers Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the 76ers +180, you would receive $180 if Philadelphia wins the game.

Wizards Moneylines and Wizards point spreads use the same information to estimate the relative strength of each team for this particular matchup. The greater the Moneyline numbers indicate a greater favorite or more significant underdog.

Washington Wizards Over/Under Totals

The Wizards Totals bet, or over/under bet, is a wager on the estimated combined score of the game, in which you bet on the total of points scored being higher or lower than the set value. You can bet the over, meaning you predict the score to be above the number, or the under, indicating that you expect the final score to be less than the estimate. The bet can also be a push if the final score equals exactly the estimate, in which case all bets are refunded. This is an example of Washington Wizards Totals as it would be listed in BetPhoenix:

Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers

  • Total: 217.5
  • Over odds: -110
  • Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you would win $1.

Washington Wizards Parlays

Washington Wizards Parlays is a type of wager where you combine different single bets into one. This is very advantageous as the odds are increased substantially since all bets included as part of the parlay must win for the whole parlay to pay out.

You can combine different types of bets, like point spreads, moneylines, over/under totals, player props, and many other wagers. You can also choose between favorites and underdogs. Betphoenix will increase your Washington Wizards Parlays odds and payout as more individual bets are added. Wizards parlays allow up to 10 single bets, including cross-sport bets, allowing you, for instance, to pair an NBA game bet with an NFL bet and a Soccer bet.

For example, we can combine the Washington Wizards Point Spread of -5 and the Over of 217.5. We can add another three plays to the Wizards parlay, like the Boston Celtics -2.5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls -6.5 against the Charlotte Hornets, and the Sacramento Kings +3.5 against the Miami Heat, to make a 5-team parlay.

  • Wizards Spread: -5 -110
  • Wizards Totals: Over 236.5 -110
  • Boston Celtics -2.5 -110
  • Chicago Bulls -6.5 -110
  • Sacramento Kings +3.5 -110

This 5-team Heart Parlay would compound payout odds of +2435, well above 20x times your bet if you wagered on each line separately. For example, risking $25 would earn you a payout of $608.98, with these possible outcomes:

· Wizards Point Spread covers, Wizards over/under covers, Celtics Point Spread covers, Bulls Point Spread covers, and the Kings Point Spread covers. All bets cover: Win $608.98

· Wizards Point Spread pushes, Wizards over/under covers, Celtics Point Spread covers, Bulls Point Spread covers, and the Kings Point Spread covers. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 4-team parlay: Win $307.08

· Wizards Point Spread covers, Wizards over/under doesn't cover, Celtics Point Spread covers, Bulls Point Spread covers, and the Kings Point Spread covers. Loss: -$25

· Wizards Point Spread covers, Wizards over/under covers, Celtics Point Spread doesn't cover, Bulls Point Spread covers and the Kings Point Spread covers. Loss: -$25

· Wizards Point Spread covers, Wizards over/under covers, Celtics Point Spread covers, Bulls Point Spread doesn't cover, and the Kings Point Spread covers. Loss: -$25

· Wizards Point Spread covers, Wizards over/under covers, Celtics Point Spread covers, Bulls Point Spread covers, and the Kings Point Spread doesn't cover. Loss: -$25

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Washington Wizards Teasers

A teaser is a grouping of multiple bets combined into one single bet. The difference between teasers and parlays is that with teasers, the lines are moved in your favor by the number of points given by the teaser.

Washington Wizards Teasers often start at 4 points and can go up to 5 points. Available Teasers on BetPhoenix include:

  • 4 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 4.5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 5 points Teasers for 2 to 8 Teams
  • 7 points Teaser for 3 Teams
  • 9 points Teaser for 4 Teams

One of the most popular Teasers is the 2-team 4-point that has the same payout as a regular -110 wager.

Wizards Teasers are attractive for giving you a significant advantage with a much more favorable line, but this comes at a cost in terms of the payout opportunities.

Based on the previous example, we can tease the same five teams we had on the parlay for a 4-point 5-team Wizards teaser would be as follows:

Starting Lines

  • Wizards Spread: -5
  • Wizards Totals: Over 236.5
  • Boston Celtics Spread: -2.5
  • Chicago Bulls Spread: -6.5
  • Sacramento Kings Spread: +3.5

Teased Lines (4 points)

  • Wizards Spread: -1
  • Wizards Totals: Over 232.5
  • Boston Celtics Spread: +1.5
  • Chicago Bulls Spread: -2.
  • Sacramento Kings Spread: +7.5

In the hypothetical case of the Wizards winning the game 119-115 (-4/234), and all the other lines cover, the Wizards odds and Over failed to cover the original point spreads but would win on the 5-team 4-point Teaser, as they would cover the new -1 point spread and the over 232.5 points.

Note that on teasers, a push is considered a loss.

  • Washington Wizards odds to win NBA Championship: +15000

Washington Wizards Odds To Win the Southeast Division

Washington Wizards odds to win the Southeast Division: +1600

Despite being the only other team in the Southeast Division with an NBA Championship, with Miami, the Wizards have struggled to find a good stride in recent years. Nevertheless, you can find some optimism in Washington, as many trust them to be near from being a playoff contender, with Bradley Beal leading the way.

Washington Wizards Odds To Win the Eastern Conference Championship

Washington Wizards odds to win the Eastern Conference: +7500

The Wizards have been stuck in the middle of the road, with a team that can't find it in them to win multiple series or bad enough to secure good lottery odds. Their roster has some solid pieces, but they will need more than that to make a serious run in the brutal Eastern Conference. At their peak, Washington could be a pain for a top contender in the first round, but it's unclear that they will have enough luck and health to leap forward.

Washington Wizards Odds To NBA Championship

Washington Wizards odds to win NBA Championship: +15000

Washington disappointed last season by missing the playoff. However, the recent roster changes breathe new life into the team. Washington needs Bradley Beal to be able to manage more than 40 games this season to have any chances at the title. They are nothing more than a very long, longshot contender at this time.

Washington Wizards 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021–22 was the Wizards'Wizards' 61st season in the NBA and the 48th in Washington D.C. The Wizards were looking to improve after their previous season's quick first-round exit against the 76ers and a record of 34-38 (.472) in the regular season.

Washington qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2018, losing to the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
