The 2022-2023 season is the Los Angeles Chargers' 53rd in the NFL, 63rd overall, as they joined after the AFL–NFL merger. It's also their seventh in Los Angeles and their second under head coach Brandon Staley. They have the challenge to improve on their 9-8 record from last season and earn a ticket to the playoff for the first time since the 2018 season to end their 12-year AFC West Championship drought.

For the second year, the Chargers play their home games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This 70,000-seat state-of-the-art complex occupies the former Hollywood Park Racetrack grounds, just 3 miles from the Los Angeles International Airport. This fixed-roof Stadium opened in September 2020 to be home to both NFL teams in the city, the Los Angeles Chargers and The Los Angeles Rams. This venue is one of the only two stadiums currently shared by two NFL teams, along with the MetLife Stadium, which is currently shared by the New York Jets and the New York Giants.

The team was founded in Los Angeles in 1960 as a member of the American Football League. They relocated to San Diego after their first season, becoming the San Diego Chargers. After 56 seasons in San Diego, the Chargers relocated back to Los Angeles in 2017, just one year after the Rams moved back to the city after 21 seasons in St. Louis.

The Chargers won the AFL championship in 1963 and reached the AFL playoffs five times and the AFL Championship game four times before joining the NFL in 1970. Since then, the Chargers have made it to the playoffs a total of 13 times, with four appearances in the AFC Championship game. The team won their only AFC championship in 1994, facing the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX, and losing by 49–26.

The franchise counts with eight players and one coach enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame: wide receiver Lance Alworth, defensive end Fred Dean, quarterback Dan Fouts, wide receiver Charlie Joiner, offensive lineman Ron Mix, tight end Kellen Winslow, linebacker Junior Seau, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, in addition to head coach and general manager Sid Gillman.

The Chargers look improved this season, particularly on the defense, but they face what is likely the best division in the NFL. The Chargers have the required talent to take a step forward in 2022-23, but it won't be easy. Current lines at BetPhoenix Chargers futures odds for total wins this season are listed at 10.5 in BetPhoanys.ag.

How to Bet on the Los Angeles Chargers

BetPhoenix.ag offers an exciting and highly lucrative way to follow and get the best Los Angeles Chargers odds during the NFL season.

Placing your Los Angeles Chargers bets on BetPhoenix thru the NFL football season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, particularly if you put in some time and research. This guide is just one of many helpful tools BetPhoenix offers to help you maximize your chances of winning when wagering on NFL games, from the preseason through the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles Chargers Spreads

The points spread indicates the winning or losing margin. This is an example of a Los Angeles Chargers Spreads line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Los Angeles Chargers -3 -110

Las Vegas Raiders -3 -110

Los Angeles Chargers are a -3 favorite against the Las Vegas Raiders. That makes the Raiders +3 underdog. A small spread of 5 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 6+ points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

When betting on the Chargers spreads, in this case, -3, those who wager on the favorite, in this case, the Los Angeles Chargers, hope they win by a margin of points greater than the point spread. On the other hand, to cash in on the Las Vegas Raiders +3 as the underdog, the positive spread team must win, or lose by a margin smaller than the points of the spread.

· Chargers win by more than 4 points: Chargers bettors win

· Chargers win by precisely 3 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Chargers win by less than 3 points: Raiders bettors win

· Raiders win the game: Raiders bettors win

Los Angeles Chargers Moneylines

The Chargers Moneylines bet is the easiest and simplest bet in sports betting. You pick which side you expect will win the game. Negative odds are for favorites and positive for underdogs. Like the spread, a negative value indicates the choice, and a positive value indicates an underdog.

The Los Angeles Chargers Moneyline is listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

Team Moneyline

Los Angeles Chargers -185

Las Vegas Raiders +150

Moneylines use American odds based on a $100 bet. The amount you win or lose varies depending on the event because the odds are adjusted based on each team's or player's skill. The larger the Moneyline numbers indicate a bigger favorite or more significant underdog in the game. Using this example, the Los Angeles Chargers Moneyline would result as follows:

· Chargers Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the Chargers -185, you would need to risk $185.

· Raiders Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Raiders +150, you would receive $150 if Las Vegas wins the game.

Los Angeles Chargers Over/Under Totals

A Chargers Totals bet is an estimated projected final score based on how we envision the game will unfold from a scoring perspective. Chargers Totals are expressed in an Over/Under set, in which you pick if you expect this result to be over or under this estimate. The total points take into account both teams' scorings. The Chargers Totals are listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Los Angeles Chargers

· Total: 52.5

· Over odds: -110

· Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Los Angeles Chargers Parlays

Chargers Parlays is a wager type in which two or more bets are linked together to form a single bet with a higher payout. However, for the bet to win, all selections must win.

Betphoenix will increase your Los Angeles Chargers Parlays payout as you add more games to your Chargers parlay because winning becomes less likely as you add more teams. You can combine point spreads, moneylines, over/under, player props, and other wagers. You can choose between favorites and underdogs.

Let's say you believe the Los Angeles Chargers Spread (-3) and the Over (52.5) will cover their spreads. You may add a couple more plays to the Chargers parlay, like the Baltimore Ravens -6.5 over the New York Jets and the over (44.5) on that game. You can parlay them together on a 4-team Chargers Parlay, risking $100 for a payout of about 11 times your bet instead of risking $100 to bet on each separately (and earning close to $1100 if all four picks are winners).

· Chargers Spread covers, Chargers over/under covers, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under covers. All bets cover: Win $1228.33

· Chargers Spread pushes, Chargers over/under covers, Ravens spread covers, and the Ravens over/under covers. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 3-team parlay: Win $595.79

· Chargers Spread covers, Chargers over/under doesn't cover, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under covers. Loss: -$100

· Chargers Spread covers, Chargers over/under covers, Ravens spread doesn't cover, and the Ravens over/under covers. Loss: -$100

· Chargers Spread covers, Chargers over/under covers, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under doesn't cover. Loss: -$100

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Los Angeles Chargers Teasers

Like Parlays, Los Angeles Chargers Teasers combine separate lines but adjust the point spreads to be more in your favor. Like a parlay, you need all your lines to hit in order to win your ticket; however, you can adjust the preset point spread or total lines to lower your risk.

Chargers Teasers often start at 6 points and can go up to 6.5 and 7 points. The most common Teaser is the two team 6 points that pay the same as a regular -110 wager.

However, placing Chargers Teasers comes at a cost. Since teasers move the line so favorably in the direction of your choice, you are minimizing risk but also minimizing payout opportunities. Based on the previous example, we can tease the Chargers spread -3 and Chargers total Over 52.5, Ravens -6.5 and the Ravens Over 47.5 on a 6.5-point 4-team teaser would be as follows:

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

· Original Chargers spread -3 with a 52.5 Chargers Over/Under

· New adjusted like Chargers spread +3.5 with a new over 46 for the Chargers Over/Under

Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Jets

· Original Ravens spread -6.5 with a 42.5 Ravens Over/Under

· New adjusted like Ravens spread P.K. (Pick 'em) with a new over 16.5 for the 36 Ravens Over/Under

The Chargers odds were originally a -3 points underdog against the Chargers Totals of 52.5. In a hypothetical case of the Chargers winning 27-24 (-3/51), the Chargers odds and Over failed to cover the original spreads but would have covered and won with the 4-team 6-point Teaser; they would cover the new -3 point spread, and the over 52.5 points.

Note that on teasers, unlike parlays, a push is a loss.

Los Angeles Chargers Prop Bets

It's fun to bet on the outcome of Chargers games, but there are other ways to get involved. NFL Prop bets are one of the most exciting and common ways to do this. A single game or the entire season can serve as the inspiration for a prop.

Chargers Prop Bets include season-long possibilities like who will have the most rushing yards and the most touchdowns and who will be named MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, or even Super Bowl MVP.

You can access the available props for a game by clicking on the Live Lines Odds listing. There are lots of different props options to explore and choose from, including:

1. Chargers defense Total Yards allowed in the game. (Over/Under)

2. Which team will convert more first downs? (Chargers/Raiders)

3. Will the 1st turnover be a fumble? (Yes/No)

The Chargers Prop bets odds can vary, and more options may be available as the season progresses. Take the time to keep checking Betphoenix.ag available props selections all year long to find what you want and get more bang for the buck on your winning bets.

These are just a few examples. NFL props can be numerous and even exceed 300 props for the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles Chargers Futures Odds

You can obtain better odds and a greater chance of winning while reducing your risk by betting on futures, which allow you to choose winners and recipients of various NFL awards and honors in advance. The best odds on futures are typically found in the offseason before the regular season has even begun. This makes picking a winner for the Super Bowl or Most Valuable Player award before the season has even started all the more exciting.

• Chargers Odds to Win the AFC West Division: +250

• Chargers Odds To Win The NFC: +850

• Chargers Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +1600

Los Angeles Chargers Odds To Win the AFC West

The Chargers are listed at second place odds to win the AFC West, which is proof of how incredibly tight this divisional race is going to be, with the Chargers wedged between the K.C. Chiefs and Denver Broncos at the top of the board. The Raiders are at the bottom, receiving the best-worst odds for any least favorite to win their division.

The Chargers Odds are +250 to win the AFC West.

Los Angeles Chargers Odds To Win the AFC Championship

The Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos are stalemated for the third-best odds to win the AFC, trailing only the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. While the Chargers have an incredible AFC to contend with, backing them could be an exciting risk, expecting they don't implode like last season and end up missing the playoffs.

The Chargers Odds are +850 to win the NFC Championship.

Los Angeles Chargers Odds To Win the Super Bowl

The Chargers are listed to win the Super Bowl at the bottom of the middle tier cluster containing the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Denver Broncos. While very competitive squads populate this list, it would take Justin Herbert to become the best quarterback in the league for the Chargers to make it to the big game.

The Chargers Super Bowl Odds are +1600. Check out our current Super Bowl Odds.

Los Angeles Chargers 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021-2022 season was the Los Angeles Chargers' 52nd season in the NFL, their sixth in Los Angeles Area, their second playing at SoFi Stadium, and their first under head coach Brandon Staley.

They closed the season with a 9-8 record, improving on their previous year's 7–9, after a win over the New York Giants. They still missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year after losing the Las Vegas Raiders in the last game, when a field goal beat them in an overtime where a tie would have let both teams in the playoffs.

Los Angeles started the season with a fantastic 4–1 but went only for 5–7 over the remaining twelve games. Highlights include on-the-road victories over the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs, who started in the AFC Championship Game. In addition, their offense implemented an aggressive policy that saw the team often negate punts and field goals in favor of a go-for-it approach on 4th downs, which helped the Chargers set a record for most 4th down conversions in a season with 22 in 34 attempts. Despite these numbers, Staley's philosophy was criticized after bungled attempts in overtime defeats to the Chiefs and Raiders.
