The 2022-2023 season will be the New Orleans Saints' 56th in the NFL and their first under head coach Dennis Allen. The Saints' home is the famous Caesars Superdome (formerly the Mercedes-Benz Superdome), where they have played since 1975. This steel frame modernist stadium is the first fully covered arena in the NFL, second in e U.S. after the Houston Astros' Astrodome, and it's still the largest fixed domed structure in the world to date.

The Saints will attempt to improve from their 9–8 season from last year and return to the playoffs after a one-year absence. Finishing second in the NFC South was not enough, as they tied records with the Philadelphia Eagles for a Wild Card spot in NFC, losing the tiebreaker due to their regular season loss to the Eagles.

The Saints had an impressive beginning last season, with Jameis Winston leading them to a solid 5-2 start, which included tough victories over the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On week 8, Winston suffered a season-ending knee injury against his former team, the Buccaneers, and they went 4-6 for the rest of the season.

This season looks like New Orleans has a challenging road ahead following the retirement of head coach Sean Payton. However, the Saints defense ranked 4th in scoring (19.7 PPG) and 6th in total yards last season (318 YPG), which should be a good component in keeping them as playoff contenders if their offense doesn't entirely fall apart.

Quarterback Jameis Winston and Wide receiver Michael Thomas are back after dealing with their injuries for the past seasons. Coach Dennis Allen takes over for Payton after serving as New Orleans' defensive coordinator since 2015. Running Back Alvin Kamara might face a potential six-game suspension due to a pending trial. However, that won't be decided until later this year and would leave room for veteran Mark Ingram to benefit. Significant skill-player additions to the team include wide receivers Chris Olave (draft) and Jarvis Landry (free agency). On the other hand, the defense remains intact and a formidable unit, improved with former LSU Safety Tyrann Mathieu.

High hopes are moving forward, and they might be able to compete even without a high-caliber quarterback. With the Saints booking nine wins last season, they are listed in the same range in BetPhoenix's Future Betting Odds for Wins in the Regular Season with an 8.5. The New Orleans Saints have won nine or more games for the last five seasons. The Saints begin their season against division rival Atlanta Falcons on the road.

How to Bet on the New Orleans Saints

BetPhoenix.ag offers an exciting and highly lucrative way to follow and get the best New Orleans Saints odds during the NFL season.

Placing your New Orleans Saints bets on BetPhoenix thru the NFL football season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, particularly if you put in some time and research. This guide is just one of many helpful tools BetPhoenix offers to help you maximize your chances of winning when wagering on NFL games, from the preseason through the Super Bowl.

New Orleans Saints Spreads

The points spread indicates the winning or losing margin. Here is an example of a New Orleans Saints Spreads line:

Team Points Spread Odds

New Orleans Saints -5 -110

Atlanta Falcons +5 -110

When betting on the New Orleans Saints spreads, -5 in this case, those who wager on them as the favorite expect them to win by a margin greater than the point spread.

  • Saints win by six or more points: Saints bettors win
  • Saints win by five points: It's a push, and the wager is refunded.
  • Saints win by four or fewer points: Falcons bettors win.
  • Falcons win the game: Falcons bettors win.

A small spread of 5 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 6+ points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog. If the spread is negative (-5.5), that team must win by more than 6 points to cover it. On the other hand, for the underdogs, the spread is positive (+), meaning the team must either win or lose by less than the posted spread.

New Orleans Saints Moneylines

The Saints Moneylines bet is the easiest and simplest bet in sports betting. You pick which side you expect will win the game. Negative odds are for favorites and positive for underdogs. Like the spread, a negative value indicates the favorite, and a positive value indicates an underdog. The Saints Moneyline for the first game of the season is listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

Team Moneyline

New Orleans Saints -240

Atlanta Falcons +200

Moneylines use American odds based on a $100 bet. The amount you win or lose varies depending on the event because the odds are adjusted based on each team's or player's skill. The larger the Moneyline numbers indicate a bigger favorite or more significant underdog in the game. Using this example, the Saints Moneyline would result as follows:

  • Saints Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on the New Orleans Saints -240, you would need to risk $240.
  • Falcons Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Atlanta Falcons +200, you would receive $200 if the Falcons win the game.

New Orleans Saints Over/Under Totals

The Totals bet is an estimated projected final score based on how we envision the game will unfold from a scoring perspective. Saints Totals are expressed in an Over/Under set, in which you pick if you expect this result to be over or under this estimate. The total points take into account both teams' scorings. The Saints Over/Under Totals for the first game of the season are listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons Over/Under

  • Total: 42.5
  • Over odds: -110
  • Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either the over or the under, you'd win $1.

New Orleans Saints Parlays

New Orleans Saints Parlays is a wager type in which two or more bets are linked together to form a single wager with a higher payout. However, for the wager to win, all selections must win.

Betphoenix will increase your New Orleans Saints Parlays payout as you add more games to your parlay because winning becomes less likely as you add more teams. You can combine point spreads, moneylines, over/under, player props, and other wagers. You can choose between favorites and underdogs.

Using this example, a two lines New Orleans Saints Parlay could be set as follows:

Let's say you want to combine the Saints Spread (-5) and the Over (42.5) on a 2-team parlay risking $50. The payout of this parlay would be about 2.5 times your bet instead of risking $50 to bet on each separately, earning over $80 if both picks are winners.

  • If both bets cover: Win $132.23
  • Saints win by 5 points making the -5 spread a push, and the over covers: The push portion is canceled, and it becomes a straight bet, winning $45.
  • Saints Spread covers, and the over doesn't cover: Loss ($-50)
  • Saints Spread doesn't cover, and the over covers: Loss ($-25)

New Orleans Saints Teasers

Like Parlays, Saints Teasers combine separate lines but adjust the point spreads to be more in your favor. Like a parlay, you need all your lines to hit in order to win your ticket; however, you can adjust the preset point spread or total lines to lower your risk level.

New Orleans Saints Teasers often start at 6 points and can go up to 6.5 and 7 points. The most common Teaser is the two team 6 points that pay the same as a regular -110 wager.

However, placing a Saint's Teaser comes at a cost. Since teasers move the line so favorably in the direction of your choice, you are minimizing risk but also minimizing payout opportunities. Based on the Saints Teaser -5 and Saints total over 42.5, a 6-point 2-team teaser would be as follows:

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons

  • Original Saints spread -5 with a 42.5 on the Saints Over/Under
  • New adjusted with 6 points like Saints spread +1 with a new 36.5 line selecting the over in the Saints Totals.

The Saints odds were originally a -5 point favorite against the Saints, with a total of 42.5. In a hypothetical case of the Saints winning by 3 points 21-18 (39 total), the Saints spread and over failed to cover the original lines but would have covered and won with the 2-team 6-point Teaser; as the new Saints spread +1and over 36.5 points would both cover.

New Orleans Saints Prop Bets

It's fun and entertaining to bet on the outcome of the New Orleans Saints games, but there are other ways to get involved. NFL prop bets are one of the most exciting and common ways to do this. A single match or the entire season can serve as the inspiration for a prop.

The most popular Saints Prop Bets include season-long possibilities like who will have the most rushing yards, the most touchdowns, and who will be named MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, or even Super Bowl MVP.

You can access the available props futures by clicking on the Live Lines Odds listing. There are lots of different props options to explore and choose from.

Let's see a few examples of the Saints Prop Bets you can bet on:

  1. Which team scores the first TD?
  2. Will anyone score in the first 7 minutes?
  3. Will there be a safety be scored in the game?

The Saints Props betting odds can vary, and more options may be available as the season progresses. Take the time to keep checking Betphoenix.ag available props selections all year long to find what you want and get more bang for the buck on your winning bets.

These are just a few examples. NFL props can be numerous and even exceed 300 props for the Super Bowl.

New Orleans Saints Futures Odds

You can obtain better Saints odds and a greater chance of winning while reducing your risk by betting on futures, which allow you to choose winners and recipients of various NFL awards and honors in advance. The best Saints prop bets and futures odds are typically found in the offseason before the regular season has even begun. This makes picking a winner for the Super Bowl or Most Valuable Player award before the season has even started all the more exciting.

• Saints Odds to Win the NFC South Division: +300

• Saints Odds To Win The NFC: +1500

• Saints Odds to win the Super Bowl: +3300

New Orleans Saints Odds To Win the NFC South

Based on the Betphoenix Saints Futures odds, the Who Dats are the prime candidate for second place in the NFC South. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers with -275 are the clear favorites, while the Carolina Panthers at +975 and the Atlanta Falcons at +2000 are not projected to be battling for anything better than third place.

The Saints Odds are +300 to win the NFC South.

New Orleans Saints Odds To Win the NFC Championship

The New Orleans Saints are expected to contend for a playoff spot, but challenging to win the conference seems unlikely. While the Saints have a solid team and are expected to play good football with Winston back under center this season, we can't see them going toe-to-toe with squads like the Packers and Rams in the playoffs at this time. New Orleans is listed at the bottom of the contender's pack, 9th of 16 to win the conference before things hit a steep drop-off to the longshots.

The Saints Odds are +1500 to win the NFC Championship.

New Orleans Saints Odds To Win the Super Bowl

The Saints are listed at the top of the mid-range playoff contenders' group with the Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, and Pittsburg Steelers before dropping off to the longshot territory beyond +10000. Check out our current Super Bowl Odds.

The Saints Super Bowl Odds are +3300.

New Orleans Saints 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021-2022 season was the New Orleans Saints 55th season in the NFL and the final season under head coach Sean Payton after 15 years of leading the franchise. This was the last season for long-time head coach Sean Payton and their first season since 2005 without their veteran quarterback Drew Brees on the roster.

Brees announced his retirement after playing for 20 years in the league. The 13 times Pro Bowler broke several records during his time at New Orleans, took the franchise to its first Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XLIV, and left as the passing yards all-time leader, a record that Tom Brady would break in 2021. Brees was the last remaining active player from the 2001 Draft generation.

Coach Payton also announced his retirement after 16 years of coaching the team, despite still having three years left in his contract. Payton led the Saints to 9 playoffs and their first and only Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLIV during his tenure.

After starting the season with an excellent 5–2 record, they lost starting quarterback Jameis Winston to a torn ACL injury in Week 8 vs. his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints fell into a five-game losing streak and also failed to improve on their 12–4 record from the previous season, failing to win the division title for the first time since 2016.

Despite coming back to win four of their last five games, they failed to clinch a playoffs spot for the first time since 2016 after the San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18. The Saints tied for the 7th seed with the Philadelphia Eagles, losing the tiebreaker due to their Week 11 direct loss to the Eagles. The team established the record of starting 58 different players and ranked in the bottom 5 in total offense.
