Indiana Hoosier Slipping after B1G Year Last Year

Indiana Hoosiers CBB

The Indiana Hoosiers entered the 2013-14 college basketball season having made the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for back to back seasons but also coming off something of a disappointment as they were a top seed in the Big Dance last year with a loaded team that was touted as a sure thing for the Final Four. The Hoosiers, so it seemed, were finally breaking out of from their years on NCAA probation in which Crean head coach Tom Crean had to ride out bad seasons of 6-25 in 2008-09, 10-21 in 2009-10, and 12-20 in 2010-11 before finally having his program in place for a 27-9 season in 2011-12 in which the Hoosiers made the Sweet 16. But so far this year the Hoosiers have taken a big step back based in large part to a significant roster makeover as most of the key components of the two Sweet 16 runs led by Cody Zeller checked out from the scene at the end of last season.

Under Water

The Indiana Hoosiers have paid out in 12 out of their 26 lined games with the CBB Lines while going over the total in just 10 of their games on the season. What has been most troubling is the fact that they have not been able to reload and have the look of a team that is rebuilding. To add insult to injury the Michigan Wolverines, another Big Ten team that has been ravaged by roster makeover, were able to overcome that challenge and continue to be a top leader in the conference that will get a good NCAA Tournament seed.

Signs of Hope

Kevin Ferrell was averaging 18 points per game while Noah Vonleh added 9.3 rebounds per game. Ferrell was a strong 3 point shooter at 42% while Vonleh was at 56% for three point shots.

By the Numbers

The Indiana Hoosiers got the money in just 3 out of 10 games as a dog with 6 out of their last 8 games as a dog going under the total. They are likely to be a dog in most of whatever post season games that they will have.
