The 2022-2023 season is the Washington Commanders' 91st in the NFL and their third under head coach Ron Rivera. This is also their first season under the Commanders brand, with new logos and uniforms, introduced after the retirement of the Redskins brand in 2020 and playing temporarily as the Washington Football Team for two seasons.

The team has hosted its home games at FedEx Field in Landover, MD, since 1997, less than 4 miles from the Washington DC border. This open-roof, 80,116 capacity venue was built to replace the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium.

They were founded as the Boston Braves in 1932 and changed their name to the Redskins before moving to Washington, D.C. The Redskins brand was retired in 2020 under pressure from sponsors as some groups saw the term as derogatory. Washington is among the first NFL teams with a fight song, "Hail to the Commanders," whose marching band plays after every touchdown scored by the team at home.

The Commanders have played over 1,000 games and are one of the five NFL teams with over 600 total wins.

Washington won two NFL championships in 1937 and 1942 and three Super Bowls, XVII, XXII, and XXVI. Washington has finished as runner-up six times, losing the 1936, 1940, 1943, and 1945 title games and Super Bowls VII and XVIII. Having 14 division titles with 24 playoff appearances, they have a postseason tally of 23–18. Their three Super Bowl titles are tied with the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, and only behind the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants, with four each; the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, with five each; and the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots, with six each.

All of the Commander's championships were accomplished during two clearly marked periods. In the first period from 1936 to 1945, the team went to the NFL Championship six times, winning two. The second period went from 1982 to 1991, when they made the postseason seven times, winning four Conference titles and three Super Bowls in four appearances. But on the other side, from 1946 to 1970, Washington only posted four winning seasons and never reached the playoffs. Since their last Super Bowl win in 1991, they won their division four times and reached the postseason seven times. Since then, the franchise has struggled.

There have been temporary signs of greatness in Washington, especially from stars Robert Griffin III and the late Sean Taylor, but the team has failed to keep up with its winning ways of the '80s and '90s. Current lines at BetPhoenix Commanders futures odds for total wins this season is listed at 7.5 in BetPhoanys.ag.

How to Bet on the Washington Commanders

BetPhoenix.ag offers an exciting and highly lucrative way to follow and get the best Washington Commanders odds during the NFL season.

Placing your Washington Commanders bets on BetPhoenix thru the NFL football season can be a profitable and fun endeavor, particularly if you put in some time and research. This guide is just one of many helpful tools BetPhoenix offers to help you maximize your chances of winning when wagering on NFL games, from the preseason through the Super Bowl.

Washington Commanders Spreads

The points spread indicates the winning or losing margin. This is an example of a Washington Commanders Spreads line:

Team Points Spread Odds

Washington Commanders -3 -110

Jacksonville Jaguars +3 -110

Washington Commanders are a -3 favorite against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That makes the Jaguars a +3 underdog. A small spread of 5 or fewer points means that the game is expected to be a close matchup, while a large spread of 6+ points means that the favorite is expected to perform much better than the underdog.

When betting on the Commanders spreads, in this case, -3, those who wager on the favorite, in this case, the Washington Commanders, hope they win by a margin of points greater than the point spread. On the other hand, to cash in on the Jaguars Spread +3 as the underdog, the positive spread team must win, or lose by a margin smaller than the three points of the spread.

· Commanders win by more than 3 points: Commanders bettors win

· Commanders win by precisely 3 points: The bet is a push, and all wagers are refunded

· Commanders win by 1-2points: Jaguars bettors win

· Jaguars win the game: Jaguars bettors win

Washington Commanders Moneylines

The Commanders Moneylines bet is the easiest and simplest bet in sports betting. You pick which side you expect will win the game. Negative odds are for favorites and positive for underdogs. Like the spread, a negative value indicates the favorite, and a positive value indicates an underdog. The Washington Commanders Moneyline is listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

Team Moneyline

Washington Commanders -115

Jacksonville Jaguars +125

Moneylines use American odds based on a $100 bet. The amount you win or lose varies depending on the event because the odds are adjusted based on each team's or player's skill. The larger the Moneyline numbers indicate a bigger favorite or more significant underdog in the game. Using this example, the Washington Commanders Moneyline would result as follows:

· Commanders Moneyline: If you wagered to win $100 by betting on Washington Commanders -110, you would need to risk $115.

· Jaguars Moneyline: For every $100 wagered on the Jaguars +125, you would receive $125 if Detroit wins the game.

Washington Commanders Over/Under Totals

The Commanders Totals bet is an estimated projected final score based on how we envision the game will unfold from a scoring perspective. Commanders Totals are expressed in an Over/Under set, in which you pick if you expect this result to be over or under this estimate. The total points take into account both teams' scorings. The Commanders Over/Under Totals are listed in BetPhoenix as follows:

Washington Commanders vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

· Total: 43

· Over odds: -110

· Under odds: -110

For every $1.10 risked on either option, you'd win $1.

Washington Commanders Parlays

Commanders Parlays is a wager type in which two or more bets are linked together to form a single bet with a higher payout. However, for the bet to win, all selections must win.

Betphoenix will increase your Washington Commanders Parlays payout as you add more games to your Commanders parlay because winning becomes less likely as you add more teams. You can combine point spreads, moneylines, over/under, player props, and other wagers. You can choose between favorites and underdogs.

Let's say you believe the Washington Commanders Spread (-3) and the Over (43.5) will cover their spreads. You may add a couple more plays to the Commanders parlay, like the Baltimore Ravens -6.5 over the New York Jets and the over (44.5) on that game. You can parlay them together on a 4-team Commanders Parlay, risking $25 for a payout of about 11 times your bet instead of risking $50 to bet on each separately (and earning close to $280 if all four picks are winners).

· Commanders Spread covers, Commanders over/under covers, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under covers. All bets cover: Win $307.08

· Commanders Spread pushes, Commanders over/under covers, Ravens spread pushes, and the Ravens over/under covers. The push is canceled, and it becomes a 3-team parlay: Win $148.95

· Commanders Spread covers, Commanders over/under doesn't cover, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under covers. Loss: -$25

· Commanders Spread covers, Commanders over/under covers, Ravens spread doesn't cover, and the Ravens over/under covers. Loss: -$25

· Commanders Spread covers, Commanders over/under covers, Ravens Spread covers, and the Ravens over/under doesn't cover. Loss: -$25

Any lost pick within the parlay selection constitutes a loss.

Washington Commanders Teasers

Like Parlays, Washington Commanders Teasers combine separate lines but adjust the point spreads to be more in your favor. Like a parlay, you need all your lines to hit in order to win your ticket; however, you can adjust the preset point spread or total lines to lower your risk.

Commanders Teasers often start at 6 points and can go up to 6.5 and 7 points. The most common Teaser is the two team 6 points that pay the same as a regular -110 wager.

However, placing Commanders Teasers comes at a cost. Since teasers move the line so favorably in the direction of your choice, you are minimizing risk but also minimizing payout opportunities. Based on the previous example, we can tease the Commanders spread -3 and Commanders total Over 43.5, Ravens -6.5 and the Ravens Over 44.5 on a 6-point 4-team teaser would be as follows:

Washington Commanders vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

· Original Commanders spread -3 with a 44.5 Commanders Over/Under

· New adjusted like Commanders spread +3 with a new over 38.5 for the Commanders Over/Under

Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Jets

· Original Ravens spread -5.5 with a 43.5 Ravens Over/Under

· New adjusted like Ravens spread +1 with a new over 37.5 for the Ravens Over/Under

The Commanders odds were originally a -3 points favorite against the Jaguars with a Total of 43.5. In a hypothetical case of the Commanders winning 21-19 (-2/40), the Commanders failed to cover the original spread and total line, but they would have covered and won with the 4-team 6-point Teaser; they would cover the new +3 point spread, as well as 38.5 total points.

Washington Commanders Prop Bets

It's fun and entertaining to bet on the outcome of Commanders games, but there are other ways to get involved. NFL Prop bets are one of the most exciting and common ways to do this. A single game or the entire season can serve as the inspiration for a prop.

Commanders Prop Bets include season-long possibilities like who will have the most rushing yards, the most touchdowns and who will be named MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, or even Super Bowl MVP.

You can access the available props for a game by clicking on the Live Lines Odds listing. There are lots of different props options to explore and choose from, including:

  1. Will the Commanders return a punt for a touchdown? (Yes/No)
  2. Will the last score be a field goal? (Yes/No)
  3. How many touchdown passes will the Commanders quarterback throw? (Over/Under)

The Commanders Prop bets odds can vary, and more options may be available as the season progresses. Take the time to keep checking Betphoenix.ag available props selections all year long to find what you want and get more bang for the buck on your winning bets.

These are just a few examples. NFL props can be numerous and even exceed 300 props for the Super Bowl.

Washington Commanders Futures Odds

You can obtain better odds and a greater chance of winning while reducing your risk by betting on futures, which allow you to choose winners and recipients of various NFL awards and honors in advance. The best odds on futures are typically found in the offseason before the regular season has even begun. This makes picking a winner for the Super Bowl or Most Valuable Player award before the season has even started all the more exciting.

• Commanders Odds to Win the NFC East Division: +500

• Commanders Odds To Win The NFC: +2500

• Commanders Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +6000

Washington Commanders Odds To Win the NFC East

Based on what the Betphoenix Commanders Futures odds suggest, The Commanders are listed with the third-best odds to win the division, far behind the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles and narrowly ahead of the Giants. But despite Washington posting five consecutive campaigns with a losing record, these fresh-new-look Commanders can hit a winning campaign. They managed to win the division two years ago with a 7-9 negative record.

The Commanders Odds are -500 to win the NFC East.

Washington Commanders Odds To Win the NFC Championship

The Commanders are listed at the middle ground separating the top squads like the St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints from distant longshots such as the Chicago Bears, New York Giants, and Carolina Panthers. Even as Washington went 7-10 last season, a new quarterback at the helm might give them a much-needed boost.

The Commanders Odds are +2500 to win the NFC Championship.

Washington Commanders Odds To Win the Super Bowl

Washington is listed at a very good value to win this next Super Bowl if you find the Commanders futures odds appealing. They might not be the best team on paper, but rolling the dice on Washington is a decent proposition. They are much better with Wentz under center, who has already demonstrated his capabilities.

The Commanders Super Bowl Odds are +6000. Check out our current Super Bowl Odds.

Washington Commanders 2021-2022 Season Recap

The 2021-2022 season was the 90th season for the Washington Football Team and the second under head coach Ron Rivera. Changes and additions last season included the hiring of Martin Mayhew as general manager and Marty Hurney as a high-ranking executive. With the hiring of Mayhew, who is African-American, the Commanders became the first franchise in NFL history to have an all-minority general manager, head coach, and team president concurrently. The team's all-time sack leader, Ryan Kerrigan, left as a free agent to join the Philadelphia Eagles, division rivals.

Washington failed to improve their 7–9 record from the previous season and could not repeat as division champions. After a Week 17 loss to the Eagles, they missed their playoffs chances for the fifth time in their past six seasons.

Washington ended the season with a 7-10 record and a third-place finish in the NFC East. This may all be forgotten due to the off-field controversies, but Washington made the playoffs as recently as 2020, when they won the division, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.

With a new quarterback in town, as the Commanders traded Carson Wentz from the Colts, they expect to bring fresh air to the team spirits. Wentz is long past the time when he was an MVP candidate, but he constitutes a significant upgrade over previous QB Taylor Heinicke.

The offensive line at Wentz's disposal includes many weapons, like Wide Receivers Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Jahan Datson, and Running Back Antonio Gibson. Washington hopes to get rookie running back Brian Robinson back later on the season as he sustained gunshot wounds in a robbery attempt.

2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year, Defensive End Chase Young will join Robinson on the sidelines after suffering an ACL tear.
